Question about Hotpoint Refrigerators
The fridge to my fridge/freezer appliance isn't cold any more, the food isn't staying fresh and need help asap. The freezer below seems fine and this problem begun about 2 days ago. There are no flashing lights or temperature warnings, we've tried the 'Supercool' button but that doesn't work any more.....

SOURCE: I have an RL33SBSW fridge
I would Double-check the part.. before I did anything else.
I would recheck my model no. just to make sure I was right.... I would want to find out if the part I was sent is the one it is supposed to be... it probably is.... It may seem silly, but it happens more often than it should.
When a Refrigerator doesn't defrost like it should, a common condition would be to hear that some foods in the frig side freezing, why, is because the control which cycles both freezer and frig, is located in the Fresh food side, there is not enough air movement to cycle the thermostat, so it runs all the time. Cold air drops, and usually the freezing occurs down below in the veg. drawers and/or vent ports involving air transfer between the two compartments... as more time passes... ice on evaporator thickens, air flow circulation reduces even more, now conditions begin to reverse.. and exactly what you state above begins to occur... look inside your Freezer, the back wall... you'll see ice (like a snow-cone) forming.. if so... you could have a defective PCB, I doubt it.. 95% probability, it's the bi-metal termination thermostat.. the other 5% would be your def heater. I have found more PCB prone to be at fault under these circumstances then that the thermostat.. I wouldn't toss out that PCB... If you keep this unit for a long time, it will be the likely thing to be needed, in the next round..

SOURCE: I have a hotpoint fridge
I have tried the above solution without success. The only solution to the problem that works is to empty the fridge/freezer switch it off and allow it to do a full defrost. Then switch it on again. This appears to have sorted the problem

The problem is the refrigeration evaporator, located in the freezer section is blocked with frost and ice and not air can pass through it. Four different failed parts can cause this problem. The defrost timer, the defrost heater safety thermostat, the defrost heater, or the evaporator fan motor. Unless you are very good with a volt-ohm meter, it wiil be difficult to distinguish which one of these parts has failed. A qualifed refrigeration service tech or a good appliance service tech with a refrigeration certification can find this quickly.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper)
between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it.
Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it
to run. There is a flap you adjust with
the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust
the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.
