Fridge isn't getting cold

Over the last week we've noticed our fridge no longer works properly and the food isn't staying fresh. There are no flashing lights or temperature warnings, we've tried super cool, but nothing works, can you help?

If there is no cooling at all on the fridge section but the freezer works then it is confirmed that the compressor and gas pressure is OK. Now shut off the fridge and leave it powered off while you clean and check the evaporator for frost. If frost is seen it is a good indication as the compressor is working with sufficient gas within.
Now after about 6 hours plug in the fridge to start. Observe cooling to happen in about one hour and ice to from under three hours.
Earlier make sure that the thermostat was set to normal mode for freezer and fridge.
However if ice forms in the freezer then observe the fridge for about 24 hours for cooling to continue and the fridge to cut off . If not the auto defrost timer, or the thermostat must be checked. Frost formation without defrosting could block the air flow and so shut the air passage to the fridge. Also the blower fan must work and if this is not working then the fan can be faulty. Also a fault on the control unit is a suspect to non functioning of any one of these components.
If defrost timer works but frost keeps forming check while the compressor shuts if the heaters are working, check continuity of the heaters.
So try this test using a multi-meter on the defrost timer and the thermostat and make your observations so that we come to the solution.

SOURCE: washer won't fill with water

A water level switch regulates the washer's fill volumn. The switch is usually a diaphragm like device with a small clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. It works on water pressure on the air in the tube. The switch can be tested using an ohm meter or multimeter. The switch should have continuity. If not, it is defective and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps and best wishes.

SOURCE: My washer isn't getting cold

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

This is symptomatic of a malfunctioning cold water control valve. Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call to confirm that it is not something else- like the control board not feeding it the correct voltage ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Freezer working fine, fridge not at all

Brand name and model would help but here is a guess. Most frost free refrigerators have the main cooling unit in the freezer area side. To get the fresh food side cold, there is a small fan in the freezer side that blows cold air to the fresh food side through a duct work or trap door. If that fan stops or fails for and reason, the first place you will notice the temp rise is in the fresh food section. See if you can hear the freezer fan running. You may need to push in the door switch for the freezer light to hear the fan because they sometimes run the fan wiring through the door switch. It may stop when door is opened.

Hello, My fridge side of my hotpoint model # Hsm25gftc sided by side fridge/freezer isn't getting cold anymore. I purchased it in 2007 I believe. I've tore the ice maker and tray out and pulled...

if the freezer is working fine it sounds like you could have a bad damper control, also there's another thing i want you to check first, hotpoint is a g.e. product, they have sensors in the machines, you said you had the back wall off, take it off again and on top of the evap coil you'll see a sensor,it looks like a white bullet with two whits wires going to it,look at it and if where the wires connect to it it has a black ring around it you have to change it out, also ther's one of these sensors in the fidge section too,it senses how cold the fridge is and tells the damper door to open and close,it sounds like your damper is staying shut, the part number for the temp. sensors are WR55X10025 and it's like 8 dollars,if they have the black ring on them they most likely are your problem, the new sensors are all white,if you have the white sensors then you could have a bad damper.go to this site,it's sears site http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Hotpoint-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/Model-HSM25GFTCSA/1811/0165000/H0712760/00006?blt=06&prst=&shdMod= go to the fresh food diagram and look at the damper and the sensor, one of these parts are badmalso g.e. has had alot of problems with the mother boards, the computer board in the back of the fridge,if the condenser fan and evap fans are running fine and the freezer is fine then i would replace the damper and the sensor but change out the sensor first because it's 8 bucks,if that doesn't do it then buy the damper, all it does is the fan blows cold air from the freezer to the fridge section,if the damper isn't opening the air can't enter into the fridge section.hope this helps and points you in the right derection, let me know how you make out, good luck salde

My fridgedaire side by side freezer's condensor is freezing over and warming the fridge side, I defrosted it the fridge side is keep cool enough to keep food but the freezer side will not get cold to...

Hello, This is a type of faulty you can handle yourself, most times this is a bad cold control, but there are other things to check for. Make sure the condenser fan is working and the coils are not covered with dust. A separated heat exchanger ( small capillary tubing soldered to the large suction line ) can separate from one another and make the fridge run too long. - tape tubing back together. A poor working evaporator fan motor could also make the fridge run too long and freeze - replace the fan motor. An inefficient compressor or refrigeration system could make the fridge run too long and freeze - have a service tech check this out. A misaligned control settings, make sure the air damper and cold control have not been bumped and are out of normal settings. Stuck open air diffusers or air dampers are becoming more and more common for allowing too much air to be blown into the fresh food section and freezing things. On all frost free fridge's the freezer temp air is blown into the fresh food section, if you have "easy" to freeze items ( eggs, veggies in water, etc ) in front of or under where the freezer temp air comes out, they could freeze - store them in a different spot. Doors not closing properly making the fridge run too long is something else to check for.
I hope this will help in solving the fault.....

What temperament should i put on my fridge?

Most fridge manufacturer's suggest 34 degrees F (but no lower) for the fresh food compartment, and 0 degrees F (lower is O.K.) for the freezer.

Measure temperature on the fresh food compartment by placing a thermometer in a 6 - 8 ounce glass filled with cold water. Place the glass with the thermometer on a shelf in the fridge. Wait about an hour or two (assuming the door stays shut) and check temperature. The water is to minimize changes shown on the thermometer when you open the fridge door.

I hope this helps & good luck! Please rate my reply. Thank you.

Side by side fridge not cooling, not making ice

if it seems like the evaporator is getting cold then your sealed system should appear to be ok. you need the evap fan to transfer cold air into fresh food section. if not turning u need to replace fan motor. make sure your not getting to much frost build up on the evap.

Freezer works fine but the fridge won't get cold

It sounds like cold air from the freezer isn't making it to the fridge compartment. This can be cause by a several things. The damper that lets air into the fresh food side is stuck in "closed" position, the temp sensor (t-stat) isn't working properly, the evaporator fan (in the freezer comp above the coils) isn't working to blow air up to the fresh food section. In some situations, the defrost cycle for the freezer section isn't working and the coils have frozen into a block of ice and air can't flow over them properly so you get not cold air to the fresh food section but the freezer still stays cold due to the block of ice.
