Question about HP Photosmart 3310 Printer

Error code Oxc18a0206 ink system failure

My hp 3310 printer comes up with a error Oxc18a0206, which it says is a ink system failure, unable to copy, fax, or print. When I followed the instructions given by Hp Support, nothing changes or works. I called the support and they cann't help do to no warranty. The printer is brand new only been sitting on desk at work for the past two years. We have only printed with it possibly eight or ten times ( 30/50 pages max). I have replaced the ink cartridges with brand new ones, still will not work. Only get error Oxc18a0206. Please help!!!!

I had this same exact problem. Try doing:
1. Unplug the power cord from printer.
2. Hold both o.k and Cancel simultaneously.
3. Plug the power cable while holding the buttons.


I had to go through multiple tries of the solution above. I turned it back on, it shut off and I turned it back on again. I tried to print something and sure enough, it did a maintenance cycle and it works again.

This did not work the first time but after 3-4 times of doing both, TA DAH, it went through a lengthy maintenance cycle and then started working. Persistence paid off

Hi, You cannot get rid of the error message as its a  hardware issue. The error has to do with a critical hardware issue. Without warranty the machine cannot be replaced. So no need to change any more ink cartridges. The printer needs a replacement.

I have had the same problem. After not using the printer for a year, but still having it just sit on my desk without any chance of it getting damaged physically. I tried replacing the ink cartridges as well and no change, error still comes up. I guess after a certain time this printers have been programed to lay down and die. I'm sure the printer is perfectly fine hardware wise. HP needs to stop being D#$KS and trying to steal a mere $50s off of us. Its pathetic and they just lost a costumer. Way to go!

Stop purchasing Hewlett Packard products including their computers. Customer service is null and void and all they're interested in is selling you another computer or printer. My suggestion is to boycott this company that seems to outsource all of their service and advisers. Buy American like Dell computers or gateway.And that's all I have to say about that !!

Same issue here. mine is under warantee but since i have alternative ink i can't waste another new ink in order to have services. the ink is more expensive than the printer. what a waste. I gave epson to my son for his univeristy work afdter using 10 years and is still working 100% as new with alternative ink.

Have a hp 3310 it says ink system failure error 0xc18a0106 it wont print,scan,copy and it does have enough ink. thank 4 ur help


Turn off the machine using the power button, unplug the power cord from the back of the machine, remove the ink cartridges, wait 2 min, plug the power cord back in, press the on button, wait until the printer prompts that the ink cartridges are missing, then replace the ink cartridges. If this doesn't clear the error then you may need to re-prime ink through the system to clear the error. I installed new cartriges, but my printer keeps giving me an error msg, Ink system has failed. Unable to copy, receive faxes, or print. Refer to printer documentation. Error: Oxc18a0206. What do I do now?

I have a Ink System Failure.


IssueAn 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel. The printer cannot copy, receive faxes, or print. Solution
Press the On button to turn the printer off. 
Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
Remove all the ink cartridges.
Wait two minutes.
Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.
Press the On button to turn the printer on. 
Install the ink cartridges when prompted.
If the error code does not display, the issue is resolved.
If the 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel, service the printer.

I have a Ink System Failure.


I had this same problem but with a different error code. Try doing:
1. Unplug the power cord from printer.
2. Hold both o.k and Cancel simultaneously.
3. Plug the power cable while holding the buttons.

After I did this my printer reconfigured like it used to do and it was like it was new again.... well new plus a headache a managed to get while reading all these little posts. I hope this helps!
