Re: shuts off after maximum of 8 seconds. does heat when...
Sounds like the controller board has failed, assuming a circuit breaker has not tripped or fuse has not blown. If all you do is reset the clock, and then it looses time, regardless of using the microwave, then it points to the clock/controller board. If this only happens when you use the microwave portion for a few seconds, I would be suspicious of the microwave circuit, where there are several components that could cause the failure.

if when it shuts off clock resets to first plugged in state, sounds as if control panel is being reset by something (failure of part, or power surge) if clock is still ok and maintains correct time , I'll bet if you notice the cooliing fan is not running correctly (by sound it makes) in those two seconds, this will over heat magnetron and shut off on thermal hi temp (safety) if so fan will need to be serviced by a professional
I understand that your Frigidaire microwave, model# MWV150KBA, sounds like it is running but will not heat. I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes.
Once power is restored, the first thing you will need to do is set the clock. You will do this by pressing the "Clock" button once for AM and twice for PM, enter in the time, and press the "Clock" button again.
Put a cup of water in for about a minute. If the water does not get warm, I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose your microwave and determine why it is not heating. Hope this is helpful.
The magnatron (heating element) is located in the cavity behind the control. If it's leaking microwaves onto the electronics, this will occur. This means the Mag should be replaced and a radiation test run on unit.
Please try on some other power point as if there is loose contact or sparking in point which cause to switch off as soon as you start because of heavy current drawn by oven and clock also resets.
If not solved even then must have some short circuit or over loading in timer circuit or magnetron. in this case you have to call for a service engineer.
