Question about Epson Stylus CX9300F Series

Open Question

I have replaced the magenta cartridge and a B73 error keeps appearing. The cartridge is a genuine Epson cartridge.

The message is "Press the OK button to replace ink cartridge. I press OK and the next message is "Perform ink cartridge replacement". I perform replacement, then the next message is "Replace ink cartridge". Press OK to proceed. Then I am back to "Press the OK button to replace ink cartridge", and so on. It is just going around in circles and has the B73 error on the screen each time.

The main problem in using the latest Epson printers, is the ink replacements. Ink cartridges like 73N has its own ink reseter (the little chip in front of the cartridge). Once you replaced the ink without using the right procedures, for example you have a 10% remaining ink level on one of the cartridge, and you replaced it without using the setup menu and selecting the replace ink cartridge, even though the cartridge is new, the printer will read the replaced cartridge as a 10% ink level cartridge. When the remaining 10%, drops to 0%, your cartridge will read as an empty cartridge. The chip on the cartridge is registered as an empty cartridge.
-try to replace the ink reseter or try to clean the cartridge chip then put back the ink.

Hi, I have a lexmark x7170 and keep getting an error message "unsupported cartridge". Help please!!


If you receive an error message that tells you that you have an unsupported cartridge, then you need to remove the cartridge. After installing the appropriate type of ink cartridge you should no longer receive the error message and you can then perform a print test.
Instruction on how avoid unsupprted cartridge message.
  1. Lift up the scanner unit (with the power on). The printer cartridge carrier will move to the top of the printer into the loading position.
  2. Press down on the lever above the cartridge and then raise the cartridge lid. Remove the cartridge and make sure the cartridge supports no more than four colors (cyan, yellow, magenta and black) and a speed of 22 parts per notation.
  3. Insert the compatible ink cartridge into the carrier and then lower the cartridge lid. Close the scanner unit, then make sure plain white paper is inserted into the paper loader.
  4. Press the "OK" button on the control panel and the unsupported cartridge message should be gone. Press the "Select" button and a test alignment page will print.

Have a MFC-240C used INNOJET compatible cartridges. display said magenta empty, opened it up, cartridge had leaked. replaced with new INNOJET. No magenta ink is printing. CLOGGED????? what to do? THNX

That sounds like your problem.

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc. These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......


I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

Error message after replacing black ink cartridge


This happened to me twice, You can possibly have no ink in your cyan,magenta and yellow , you would then have to replace them to work the set. I had to do that and it worked =]

If you turned the machine off and replaced the cartridge, you can get this error.

Could you try the following procedure below please to clear the error, thanks.
  1. Turn on the unit.
  2. Open the top cover to access the print cartridges.
  3. Remove the new cartridge that is causing the message.
  4. Reinsert the cartridge and close the cover. The following message will appear on the front panel: "Press 1 for new cartridge or press 2 for a used cartridge."
  5. Press the 1 on the numeric keypad of the HP product.
If the message, press 1 for new cartridge or press 2 for a used cartridge, "does not appear after removing and reinstalling the new cartridge, and the low ink warning message still displays,

follow the steps below:
  1. Turn on the unit.
  2. Open the top cover to access the ink cartridges.
  3. After the cartridges stop moving, unplug the power cord.
  4. Remove both cartridges and close the top cover.
  5. Plug the power back in. The unit will reinitialize and a message will appear to insert the cartridges.
  6. Open the top cover and reinsert the ink cartridges. Close the top cover. The message,
  7. Press 1 for new cartridge or press 2 for a used cartridge," should appear.

Solution: Paper is jammed. Check for any obstructions under the unit's cover, and in the paper tray.

Solution: Load paper in the sheet feeder, and then press the Color Copy button to continue printing.

Error Message: Scanner unit open -- > close the scanner unit

I just like to ask to where specifically you can see the red light. It will help us determine what cause the red light. To give you heads up as well, the Printer's LCD screen can help us determine what exactly the offline condition of the CX3200 is:

Epson R1800 printer won't recognize new ink cartridge


You can remove magenta & double check that some tape was not left behind on the contacts. Take a clean ragg & dampen it with alcohol. Clean the ink cartridge's (copper contacts & inside the the ink carrige). Re-install the magenta, (tight fit). Power off the printer. Wait a few seconds & power it back up. If it fails a second time with no other errors. Like the above. Than the magenta may be defective. Have a recipt? Return it for a replacment.
