Remove the battery, take off the cover and, using a q-tip soaked in wd-40 seems to work best, clean the contacts...also if the button itself pops out soak it in warm water to get w/e gunk out that might be in there.

Press and hold the BACK/HOME button until the main menu appears. Use the cursor keys to select the toolbox icon and press the play button in the middle of the cursor pad to confirm. Use the cursor keys to select the last item in the menu and press play to confirm. Select "English" and press play.
power up by sliding up the power button on the left side, 'til it lights up. If it's not at the main menu with some picture icons (Settings, Music, Voice, FM Radio), then press the 'lil HOME button. Then scroll up or down to get to the SETTINGS menu (thats the one with the icon of four EQ switches on a board with animation of the 2 middle switches movin' up and down). Press the middle button (or right ">>I" on the circular pad). You should be at the Settings menu, scroll up or down and highlight the LANGUAGE option. Best way to find it when set in any language on this menu.... see an option that has some foreign text then FM? Thats the FM settings option, and the one above that is the LANGUAGE settings option, so highlight that one and press the middle button ( or right ">>I" on the circular pad), and you should be in language menu. Just scroll up or down to ENGLISH and press the middle button ( or right ">>I" on the circular pad). HTH!
My Daughter's iRiver scroll pad must be stuck...it just keeps scrolling. She says nothing happened to it. Never got wet etc. I am going to attempt to open it and see what it looks like. The one post says it is very easy, but gives no information. I called the company and they have no USA service centers at all...so if it is out of warranty you are out of luck. They say they hope to have a repair center soon...but it sounds like a company running out of a garage. Good luck and buy some other brand.
