My sony wega lcd just shut down on me

I have a Sony 42inch wega LCD t.v. this morning a message came up on it but I could'nt catch it in time it said something about overheating and to check the fan to make sure it was'nt blocked and asked me if I wanted to switch to high elevaion mode but I could'nt switch it quick enough before it shut down and now it will onley turn on for a second or two the lighflashes on the power led for 3 bursts I pulled the panel off the right side of the t.v. and vacumed any dust that I could see. I bought this t.v. in 2006 if that helps. I looked at another sight and according to tecklore.com the 3 flashes means B+overvoltage protection [OVP] problem in power supply circuit T-603 and R672.

According to Sony, the three flashes indicate a lamp problem and you need to replace the lamp. Click this link and see if this info helps you out. Good luck !

High temp warning

Make sure to remove dust from ventilation slots on the rear of the tv. In addition, make sure that there are no obstacles in front of the ventilation slots. If the message still appears after the dust is cleared call for service.

Look for a small flat chip attached to a heatsink marked like LA7838
or something similar. Replace that chip. That may cure the problem.
If not, I would suspect capacitors in the same circuit as being bad.
    But, start with the chip.

Check the main power supply, specifically the regulator area. I don't
have access to the service info on this set, so I can only provide
generalities. The regulator might be a multipin IC such as STRSxxx or
something similar attached to a heatsink.

Sony Grand WEGA LCD with no picture

If this is the model I am thinking of, don't bother fixing it. Call up sony and they will should offer you an new sony bravia lcd tv. You can either get the free one or upgrade from the free one to a bigger one. I guess that there is some recall with the light engine and sony is giving out this offer. This happened to my grandma to her 42" grand wega. The ending result was that she got a 46" 120hz sony bravia tv for, if I remember right, $250. I hope that this helps. Good luck and happy new years!!!

Sony lcd projection tv kf50xbr800 shuts down and

Hey there, from what you are telling me I think the problem is coming from your Power Supply board it sounds like it could be two things

one: the board might have gone bad and its not sending the corresponding voltage to your components and that is why it keeps turning off

example: works ok for a while then gets weak truns off and then gathers enough turn back on

two: the power supply could be over heating and it has a sencor when it gets to hot to turn off this is very rear though

please rate this solution !!!

Yellow spot in lower right hand corner

You have pretty much narrowed it down to being a bad optical block. This isn;t good news, since the optical block is probably the most expensive part in the set. Your best bet is to contact Sony customer support to see if the will allow some kind of accommodation for the repairs. Sorry for the bad new; hope it doesn't effect the rating you give me for the solution. Thanks!
