Question about Toshiba 57H81 57" Rear Projection Television

Toshiba 57H81, power to transformer and flyback.

I changed out the IC's, and one pecos fuse. I turned on TV and everything was perfect. Ran TV for about 2 hours, then went to bed. Next morning turned on TV and nothing. An attempt to start up, could hear relay kicking in and then got a continuous red flashing led light from power on led light on front of TV. Checked the pecos fuse and replaced , it went out. Powered up TV, Transformer fired up, relay engaged. Guns never engaged and pretty quickly could smell something burning, disconnected the power from the board and lokked for burn outs. Couldnt find any sign to reveal what burned out, Connected power to board and get No power to flyback transformer or main transformer. Get a start up power for TV, minus the firing up of guns and a solid red led light at front power led light on TV. Trouble shot the power failure to what is a photo coupler, but not sure if that the problem. Photo coupler is ET1103. Any ideas on what my problem is. Thank you Sunny

    I have checked and resoldered the c810 and c809, Q751,q752 f 850, f 852 pecos fuses and still have the same problem. The ics were snug and proper thermal heat compound applied. I get power to the system just mothing to the flyback of transformer..im going for the schlematics now. If you think of anything please let me know.

You need to check the 1.8 ohms resistors 2watts, the horizontal output transistor.make sure that the ics that you replaced and the fuses are the exact rating that were on the original

IF YOU REPLACED THE SAME PICO FUSE, YOU PROBABLY HAVE A BAD CONVERGENCE IC AGAIN . DID YOY SNUG UP THE IC TO THE HEAT SINK AND USE THERMAL HEAT COMPOUND ON THE NEW IC'S? ALSO CHECK SOLDER CONNECTIONS TO C810 AND C809 THE FUSE BY THE CAPACITORS MAY BE OPEN.

I have a Sony model KV-32S26 that will not turn on, been sitting for about 2 years. Had a tv repair guy tell me it was the flyback transformer. If that's the case, can I replace it myself? Thanks

1) You must test the a) fuse b) c.breaker inside c) diode, d) rectifier e) transformer f) filter. g) IC. regulator voltage and test it. If the problem persist you must go to the horizontal problem by lack of RASTER, now you test the transistor horizontal power, flyback. If you have some experience with the electronic you can try. If do not, better go to the repair shop Tv. Since you can have a electric shock by H.Voltage discharge.
God bless you

Dark, fuzzy picture

The fluid in the CRT bulbs is most likely cloudy. Check the blue to see if fluid is clear. If fluid is clear, then likely your flyback transformer is failing. I assume you already check the brightness and contrast settings on the tv.

Hello Hloggins, hi, your power supply is not producing the pulse needed to start the switching. check for the IC on the oscillator part of the power supply, you need an Oscilloscope to test this. if there is no scope. i suggest you replace the IC.

Tv will not turn on

First, locate the horizontal output transistor. This is found very close to, or next to, the horizontal output transformer (also known as the flyback). The flyback should be on an aluminum heat sink, or on the side of the metal chassis. Disconnect or unsolder two of the three legs of the transistor. Measure it with your meter, or plug in the set with the light bulb attached across the fuse.
If the transistor is shorted, or the light bulb doesn’t glow bright anymore, replace the transistor and plug back in. If the light bulb glows bright again, you must replace both the flyback and horizontal output transistor simultaneously. In some cases this will fix the set, but sometimes there are multiple problems with a set.
Go to where the flyback is, and start measuring the diodes and capacitors on the flyback itself. If you don't find any shorts there, it could be a shorted vertical output IC, a shorted sound IC, a shorted disc capacitor in the Hi Voltage/sweep circuit, or in rare cases, a shorted capacitor or tuner.Feel free to ask and post whatever the result of your troubleshooting..

Hope this may help;

Toshiba 57H81

Check all fuses in the power supply and look for any bad connrctions on the PCB. You are probably missing the 130 volt supply to the horizontal circuit. Common reasons are: Shorted horiz output transistor; flyback transformer, picture tube arcing , bad power regulator IC. In short, you need to get a qualified tech for this symptom. Hope this helps.
