Question about Amana Dryers
It seems as if every load has to be dried twice as my dryer is not drying clothes fully the first cycle. Does this mean I need a new Heat Exchange put on? Other part?
It might just be that your vents are clogged up. Go outside and place your hand over the vent to see how the air flow it. It should be pouring out air fast. If it is slow or not much at all then that could be your problem. If there is not enough hot air escaping the heating element is going to be shutting off for safety. The thermostat will sense that it is too hot in there and turn it off thus requiring more drying time. This is usually the problem. If this is the problem just have your vents cleared out. This is something you will want to do at least once a year. If you have a long distance between the dryer and the vent exit there are probably bends and such in the hose. The bends will catch lint and it will just build up. If your vents seem to be fine then you may need a new thermostat. The heating element isn't the problem. They either work or they don't. The thermostat controls the heating element though and how long it stays on. It monitors the heat in the drum and when the dryer reaches the desired heat it shuts it off. Check the vents first though. I hope this helps you and good luck. If you have any other questions let me know and let me know if this was helpful to you or not.
