My kenmore front load model 970 pumps water in but does not agitate or spin. I have already changed the door switch and it did not work

sounds like a bad or clogged water pump but may also have to look the door switch which on some models wont allow it to spin or agitate? a bad motor coupler will not allow spinning or have bad weak spin cycle sorry cant be more specific by the way front loads tend to be a pain in the___ to work on good luck

Motor brushes need replacing

if it agitates and pumps out water it is not the lid switch.  you most probably have a bad brake/clutch mechanism.  the fact that it spins tells me the transmission is good

I will be replying 2 times here but wanted to send this first one now so you can possibly check the lid switch. The machine will fill and pump out but if the lid switch is not functioning it will not agitate or spin.

As you just open or close the door or lid you should hear an audible click from the micro-switch. If you do not hear that click, The lid switch has a problem. (loose or failed)

but may not be yours due to the model number issue.

There are 2 other possibilites also. One being the water level control or pressure switch and the timer assy. Most of the time the lid switch is the failure.

You could check motor plug has not fallen off in transit/ also belt..good luck

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

The Kenmore / Whirlpool top load uses a reversing motor to initiate the pump for draining and the transmission to spin.

If you cannot hear the motor trying to turn the pump, (but the washer will agitate) the problem points to the Timer, or the Lid Switch.

Try to bypass the Lid Switch by removing the Console and jumping the two outermost pins on the switch.

Since it won't drain, the problem points to the lid switch. You already have the cabinet off so replacing the switch isn't too difficult.
The Sears site has the Sears (and probably Whirlpool) part number.

Sounds more like a transmission or a spin tube problem

This is caused by either a bad door switch or a speed control unit. There is no way to test the door switch but it is the cheapest to replace. Try that first then the speed control. The door lock switch hopefully does it. (even if it locks it can still be bad there is another switch inside.)

I have a kenmore front load washer, model: 417 42042100
It makes loud noise and becomes louder during the spin cycle.
The drum is loose when I inspected through the front door.
My problem is how to open the cabinet and replace any broken parts.

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.
