My Carrier Infinity 96 air conditioning is not working. The status code led is yellow and on steady. Any ideas??? Thx!

That light being during cooling means that something is pulling too much current. Check the relay in the outside unit (warning high voltage) and if you have a condensate pump attached to remove water, make sure it is working.

Heat pump problems

Some heat pumps have high and low pressure swiches installed to keep compressor from running when unsafe conditions occur that can damage the compressor. If the outside fan is not turing on, the unit is cycling on high pressure, if you see ice forming on the big refrigerant line coming from the air handler, then the compressor is shutting down on low pressure. Low pressure can be cause by lack of air flow through air handler or from a low refrigerant charge.

Where is the reset button on my ruud acheiver 90 airconditioner?

Should be a small button on the outside unit close to where the tubing is welded on the unit. This is a high pressure switch that trips if the unit gets hot , so be sure and check the coil for dirt , etc. The fan pulls air through the coil. If the outside of the coil is dirty it will trip the high pressure switch. Look under the fins, you will see the outside of the coil.

We cleaned the coils outside. Now the compressor only stays on about 30 seconds and shuts off. It will come again in approximately 4 minutes. The fan outside and the blower inside stays on. We have a...

sounds like it's cycling on the high pressure cut-out switch. Note: it could be a low-pressure switch that is causing the cycling but most units (today) don't have low pressure switches. If your unit has either of these two switches it will (usually) be the high pressure switch, although it's possible it has the low pressure switch too. My guess is it only has a 'high pressure cut-out.'
I would seriously look at the coil again and make sure you've cleaned it real good.
Many Carrier Air Conditioners have what is called a SPLIT coil. If this is what you have you will need to (WITH ALL POWER OFF) disassemble the outside unit enough to where you can manually pull these coils apart (be careful - you just need to get a small gap between them) and wash IN BETWEEN the two coils.
Pretty difficult to do - but doable.
It's possible you have an overcharged unit - but unless you've recently had it charged I would not suspect this.
If it is not the high pressure switch - and 'you do have' a low pressure switch - chances are you're out of refrigerant and you will need a serviceperson to (a) fix the leak and (b) re-charge the unit

turn off the system at the t-stat and at the high voltage disconnect to the outside unit or the curcit breaker at the panel WARNING FAILUR TO FOLOW THIS STEP CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY remove the screws from the top and side that has the pressure switch in it and remove the top with the fan. run water from the inside of the coil to flush out all the dirt and mostlikely cottonwood fly that has caked itself on the coil. reassmble the unit and and is should run just fine. if it don't call out a tech to check operating pressuers. the high head pressure may have caused a leak

Check to see if there's low voltage reaching the contactor's coil. If there is. and it doesn't close (pull in), then it's defective and should be replaced. Cut the power and check ohms to be certain.

Have you eliminated the possibility of a high or low pressure error. Sounds to me like it's off on safety. Should have troubleshooting the flash right on the panel. Test your pressure switches for continuity.
