Question about Dell Dimension 3000 PC Desktop

Antivirus 360? Hi, my computer had the antivirus 360. Can't find it in task manager, tried to delete but says will only delete icon not program and says to remove thru control panel, which I tried in the beginning but it's not there. I think it's on my computer just not installed, you know? I tried to restore but the computer stays stuck and doesn't do anything, so I have to end up turning it off. Now my McAcafee says my computer isn't protected but can't "fix" in security or windows firewall area. Also this pop up from computer says diskeeper detected that CHKDSK is scheduled to run on volume:(c:) and that an error was found in file sysytem and diskeeper cant defragment volume. I reboot like it says but that keeps coming up. I'm so lost and irritated because I was supposed to have started online classes last week and now I cant.

Can not get onto the internet with laptop. Comes up suggesting I download the Antivirus 360. I did find 4 files named A360 but they were only shortcuts, cannot find the real program.

To download SpyBot on my computer I had to use a removable drive then tranfer it onto the laptop.

This is another version of the fake antivirus programs going around. You will need to access the task manager to end the process. Hold the control and alt buttons down together as it starts and keep pressing the del key repaetedly until it opens. This will get you in to task manager to end the process. You will need to run Malwarebytes to remove the virus. I am providing a link with step by step instructions and access to Malwarebytes for you to clean your computer. Click HERE to go to that page.

My compaq mini 110 was infected with THINK POINT VIRUS. i downloaded a malware scanning program which seemingly worked for about a day...with an abundance of pop ups and self restarts. as i researched...

Hello
The re-installation of windows is however recommended, but you can try with follwing procedure to remove Think point Virus:-
1. Restart your computer in SafeMode - After Power-On the computer, just before Windows start, press F8 - From the selections, Select SafeMode
2. End ThinkPoint Process - Press Ctrl+Alt+Del from the keyboard to open Task Manager - Go to process Tab - Select 'hotfix.exe' and click on End Process - Close Task Manager
3. Remove Registry entries that the threat added. You MUST BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY FIRST. - Click Start > Run - Type in the field, regedit - Navigate and look for the registry entries mentioned above and delete if necessary
4. Delete malicious files that the threat added: - Base on the given location above, browse and delete the file - If no location is given, click Start>Search> and search for the files. - If cannot be deleted, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to access Task Manager, see if the file is running in the process. If it is, select the file and click End Process. Perform file delete again.
5. Scan computer with Antivirus Program - Update antivirus program - Scan computer and delete all detected threats.
Hope it will helps, if so do rate the solution
Good Luck

Start up and desktop icons missing

Hi,

This could happen due to various reasons like :
1. Any recent update done.
2) Virus infected
3) Windows missing/corrupted files.

There are several steps to resolve the issue.

Try one after another and check if that fixes the issue.

Step 1

Try this Fix
Click on the Download link and install the Fix No. 195 ( Restore Desktop Icons and Taskbar )
Download Link

Step 2

Press CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring Task Manager.
Click on New Task and type appwiz.cpl and click OK
This will re-run add/remove programs.
Remove/Uninstall all new program you installed before having this problem, Also remove the Windows XP Hotfix
Restart your PC.
The access to the taskbar , icons will all come back and Install a new Antivirus.

Step 3
If None of the above steps work, try a System Restore to previous date

Click START - All Programs - ACCSESSORIES - System Tool - System Restore
Choose the date before the system started giving trouble. ( The Date will be in bold ( highlighted ) which indicates the system can be restored to that date with all the settings on that date )

*Note : Doing system restore will uninstall any software/program you have installed from the date you choose the system restore till current date, However it will not delete any files created )

Hope this is helpful.

Go to your control panel and then go to programs. In your programs delete the programs that you want. Go through the control panel then programs to delete a program not task manager. Task manager only cancels the program use at that time it does not delete.

Check if you anti virus is up to date. When you try SAFE MODE does it restarts? If restarts and in normal mode havn,t task manager then try this go to here and unzip it then run process explorer in unzipped folder and find any unwanted soft running, also find process address and delete unwanted application. check startup in start meny>programs for unwanted apps. Update and scan computer with antivirus.

Antivirxp08, is the name of virsus on my computer

The infection that you have are rogue antivirus programs that, when run, display false results as a tactic to scare you into purchasing the software. Older versions of XP Antivirus would create 9 entries in your Windows Registry that impersonate infections on your machine. In reality, though, these registry entries were harmless and had absolutely no effect on your computer. Instead, these entries were set so that XP AntiVirus can find them when scanning your computer and report them as infections. The newer of versions of the program , such as XP Antivirus 2008 and XP Antivirus 2009, instead just display false results when scanning your computer that state infections were found. In order to remove these fake infections, though, you would first need to purchase the software as the trial does not allow you to remove them. To get rid of the infections you can goto:
