Question about Whirlpool GHW9300 Duet Washer

Leaking from bottom of front door Duet GHW9250MW0

Water collects/leaks from the bottom of the front door. If you don't leave the door open after use there is a musty smell. The detergent container needs to be taken out frequently to clean the enclosure it sits in. Any suggestions?

Is this a Maytag front loader? I used to work for Sears as a repair man and these door boots had a lot of problems with draining. The best thing to do is to replace the front door boot. That is that big black rubber piece that goes around the tub. If you pull it back and look in it you will probably find some mold. That is where all that water is sitting. You can wipe it out with a rag and try running some white vinegar through the machine but that is just a temp fix. They have a new door boot that will fix this problem. The old ones they started recalling due to this exact problem. It sucks and I know how bad the smell is that you are talking about. Give the manufacturer a call and find out about a new boot for it. It will fix your problem. It is a pain though to install, you may want to have a repair man come out and do the job once you get the part. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck.

That's okay. It will be the same problem. Just give the manufacturer a call and ask them about a door boot for the machine. It will fix that stinky problem. I bet your clothes are even coming out smelling a bit musty too. It really does ****. Let me know if this was helpful for you.

Duet front load - water fills while door is open!

This is a leaking solonoid valve.
The valves are located just inside the machine where the water supply hoses attach.
  • Remove the power plug
  • Undo the top lid of the washer
  • The valves will have some internal pipes clamped on their outlets. Remove the pipes.
  • Dry the valve outlets with tissue.
  • Turn on the water supply to the washer (if it was off)
  • Watch the open valve outlets for seepage.

There may be between 1 and 3 valves depending on the model.
You should be able to replace the leaking valve quite easily.

During wash or rinse cyle, water leaks from the bottom

open the door, check the rubber boot for any holes, ussually that's where it leaks, also wipe the inside of the door,i've found hair and lint stuck on the inside bottom of the door and water leaks out but pull open the rubber boot and run your fingers all around it to check for any holes.you can remove the bottom panel and then run the machine to see where the leak is coming from.

Water is pouring out of the bottom part of the washer door.

If your Whirlpool FRONT LOADER is leaking, the following link can give you guidance on how to inspect the washer to determine where the source of the leak may be coming from:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576656-washer_leak__front_loader

Most commonly, the source of the leak comes from the door bellow (gray rubber seal). They do wear out with age and can develop small rips and tears. A routine inspection of the perimeter of the door seal can determine if you have any holes. If the seal is damaged, it must be replaced. The following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574186-installing_a_door_bellow_on_a_front_load

The manufacturer recommends that you leave the washer door open between washes to prevent the seal from becoming permanently stretched. Once the seal stays compressed constantly it can stretch and not seal properly. In addition, leaving the door open helpd let the wash tub air out and prevent mold, mildew and musty odors.

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following web sites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between sites, so shop and compare. The first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly identifying the parts you may need.

If you have any questions, please post back with your complete MODEL NUMBER and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Whirlpool Front load washer - Water leaking

I would check to see if you have a hole or crack in the rubber boot inside the door. Open the door and seperate the fold in the rubber boot and check for a leak. If something sharp was left in someones pocket it will get stuck in this part of the bood.

Water leaking from the door and front panel of my Duet washer

Check the rubber door seal, sounds like its split which is common after 2-3 years use.
You can find the general area of the leak by placing dry newspaper on a dry floor beneath the machine.
