Possible that the selector switch is faulty , possible that the thermo-couple is damaged. In both the cases you need to test the switch or the sensor independently so as to confirm and replace.

Rover 25 1.4 2004 hot engine and radiator fan problem

Yes, it is possible to install a thermostat backwards, though unlikely. If the thermostat isn't opening properly, the hot engine coolant won't be flowing over the cooling fan switch and give you high temps. I would first determine if the thermostat was opening at all, and if it is, is it opening at the proper temp. I have had many new thermostats that, while new, didn't work correctly. To check the cooling fan motor, turn on the AC(if equipped) and the fan should engage. If no AC, disconnect the cooling fan switch, and the fan should engage. Check for power and ground at the fan motor. If you have both power and ground, the fan motor is faulty

Car engine temparature always show high, last two weeks temp is normal, some times come to high.i found water very hot in radiator,

Sounds like you need to replace thermostat. Thermostats open and close accordingly to engine temps. When reading goes hi usually indicates thermostat is sticking open, recirculating hot coolant. Now you mentioned it's been reading normal which makes me think this thermostat is not working consistent. So I'd change it now before it overheats and causes alot of damage. Regarding hot water in radiator, after running any time it's going to be hot, normal engine temp is around 195 degrees.

I have a 40 gal model 8IV400 B and the water is not getting hot What should I do?

Hello. Turn up the temperature setting and see if that makes a difference. If not, check the fuse or breaker that feeds the hot water tank. Also check to see that both the top and bottom element are getting power. Finally check the continuity of those heating elements as one or both of them may have gone bad. Joe

My gl4 ariston the only way it will heat water is to reset it . It will heat water til it get hot and then you have to reset it to get the water hot again

Occasionally, the high temperature limit shut off device may trigger and shut the

system down. This occurs when water temperature exceeds 190° F and shuts off

power to the heating element. The shut off device may also trigger from a power

outage or electrical storm.

To reach the thermostat:

1. Pry off the round cover plate (V Fig. 3/1) from its right hand edge (W Fig. 3/1) with

a small flat-head screwdriver.

2. Remove the Phillips screw revealed beneath the round cover plate.

3. The cover (C Fig. 3/1) can now be removed by pulling out its left-hand edge. When

reassembling, work in the opposite way being careful to insert the tongue of the

cover into the slot.

4. Firmly press reset button (B Fig. 4). Reconnect power.

5. IMPORTANT: Check the operation of the thermostat, turn temperature dial from

high to low, if the red light does not go off on low setting, turn off power supply and

call a service person to replace the thermostat.

6. If the system works, place dial setting to desired setting. Note: a lower setting is

more economical and reduces the risk of scalding. Replace cover plate.
CAUTION: Call a technician if the high limit needs to be reset frequently.

Hot plates go red hot even on low setting on my westinghouse avondale 529 stove

The hot plate needs a new thermostat. When thermostats go bad, there is no control of temperature and they stay on high. The circuit remains closed, not allowing any cycling of power, which regulates the temp

Dryer works until it seems to get to hot then cuts off

Check for a faulty high limit thermostat. It is a small round black device mounted on a metal plate. It is usually mounted to the internal ductwork with two screws. It can be tested for continuity using a multimeter or ohm meter. It should have no continuity. If it has continuity, it is stuck open and is faulty. I am attaching a pic showing a thermal fuse and high limit thermostat for reference. Hope this helps and best wishes.

Where is the reset button model #wh 7l

I am not familiar with this brand, but have worked on many others and they share common components. Here's my best guess: There should be two metal covers vertically mounted on the outside of the water heater, one about chest high, the other knee high. Behind each cover is a thermostat with a red reset button in the plate. In most cases, there is a white plastic snap on cover over the thermostat and wiring. Caution, the wiring is hot. Each wire will have 110 volts on it, and can electrocute you. Use insulated tools, and press the resets with the insulated tools, not with your fingers.
Best regards, --W/D--
