Monitor comes on for a few seconds then goes blank.
I have a Sharp LC-M3700 Monitor/TV When you turn on the set, in this case its attached to the computer, the screen comes on but only lasts for a couple of seconds then goes blank. The power light in the lower right corner that was green turns to a flashing red light. If you shut it down and start again I get the same results. I appreciate any help you can offer. Tony

Without more information, it sounds like someone might have set the parent protection code. Was your TV a demo unit maybe? You should be able to reset to factory default settings, but you'll need the manual for the TV for this. If you have more details on when and where you see this message, please elaborate.
I have had exactly the same problem. Sounds daft but by not using the remote, and only using the power on/off switch on the TV itself, it is working perfectly...no idea why
Use the remore for changing programmes etc but not for on/off
Try it anyway because I know how annoying this is
I have the same problem with my 37" HP which is the same as Sharp Aquos, it's bad backlight inverter boards, the screen comes on for a second then nothing, no menu, no channel change indicator then turn it off and you hear the clicking of the power supply about 10 seconds after.
try to right click the desktop and choose graphics options, you will have to select the correct output for your setup. i.e. laptop to monitor, etc etc see if that works,...sounds like you have a connection, you will have to play with these settings until it pops up. worked with a similar scenario, sometimes you have to do stufff twice and it works on the second time not the first, electronics are weird.
keep changing the settings in the graphics options until it comes up the way you want it.

Aquos has the same problem. I'm not sure how I discovered this, but
when I lean the TV forward and hit the power button it will turn on
every time. If the screen blacks out and I don't lean it forward when I
hit the power button, the screen will just remain blank. It is very
weird, but at least repeatable.
- Thank you, Guest. That did it. It definitely seems to be a problem with the TV. Tilting it and hitting the power button helped me get the video back.
