The dishwasher will not turn on. there are no lights on the front panel, nothing.

  • ed_wolfe Jan 23, 2009

Also, where is this black button located?

  • ed_wolfe Jan 23, 2009

The float is not stuck and the shuts tight.

  • ed_wolfe Jan 23, 2009

With no power to the control I cannot turn the dishwasher on to press the black button which I cannot locate. It is not on the front panel or inside the door. I need more specifics.

  • ed_wolfe Jan 23, 2009

The power cable is fine. When this happened it filled with water and right before the cycle would begin it just stopped.

  • ed_wolfe Jan 24, 2009

Bad door switch. I replaced it and it started working great.
    Thanks.

If your dw fills up then, stop and the control panel has no lights (no power), then you have a short either in your main motor or control...if there is still power on your control, then you have a bad motor (main pump motor) there are 2 motors (main wash motor and drain motor) if you are able to drain your dw.. then again, either wash motor or relay in control is bad.. help this work for you .. good luck..

FWIW - Looking at the wiring diagram, the unit will likely not fill with water if the door is not closed tightly.

I would be suspect of a failed heater 1st, failure of the sensor and thermistor 2nd, and a failed controller board 3rd.

Dishwashers typically want to wash with hot water. If the water is not hot enough, then it will heat the water with the heater element until water temperature is satisfactory.
Assuming the heater is good and the water is heating up, then the temperature sensor may have failed, so it does not satisfy the controller board the water is hot enough. And, if those are good, the controller board is the last thing to to the culprit.

That is a fault.

You need to test lid switch, water level switch, and control assembly, also drain pump must be checked if water is staying inside the machine.

If machine does not advance on heating part of the cycle, check also the element wirrings, and test element for continuity.

By entering model number here you can find parts and diagrams.

Hi
it is wall switch or a switch under inside bottom cabinet....usually if there is a bank of switches on the wall, one of them will shut power off to dishwasher when flipped.... try flipping the breaker off and back on....

If you have no lights at all, dishwasher unresponsive, it's probably one of two things. First check the junction box where the cord hooks up to the dishwasher. Sometimes I find a bad connection in the wire-nut. Second, there is a thermal fuse that sits on the control board. You will have to remove the inside panel. You want to see if it's blown. It will be sitting on the top side of the board, two wires going to it.

Make sure the door is properly closed - give it an extra push - there is usually an interlock system to make sure you can't start it up with the door open! If absolutely nothing still happens, no lights come on, nothing at all, first check the fuse in the plug. While doing so, check that all the terminals are screwed up tightly. The neutral terminal (in my experience) has the greatest tendency to come loose. This is usually manifested by golden brown scorch marks around the terminal inside the plug, and perhaps a burned off end of the wire. If you don't have a multimeter to test the fuse (its resistance should be virtually zero), try a different fuse of the correct rating (usually 13 Amp). If necessary , remove a fuse from another appliance that you know works. If it still doesn't work even with a fuse you know to be good, try putting the plug in a different socket. If it still doesn't go, suspect the cable or connectors inside the machine casing or the solenoid of the fill valve may have stopped working, or the circuit to the solenoid is dead

After more research I believe some models have an internal fuse up inside the control panel to the
right of the door switch. It does not resemble a fuse at all. It looks
like a white square box with two wires going to it. TURN BREAKER OFF
FOR DISHWASHER. You will have to remove the inner door panel to gain
access. Join the wires temporarily, reassemble and close the door. If
everthing works that fuse need replacing. Just something simple for you
to check to help you out.

On the bottom there are 4 screws that hold the kick panel on,remove those and you will see the power supply box,Pull the cover from that box and test for power or just see if the wiring is still connected. If you have no power there when the breaker is on.The breaker is bad,or the dish washer is on a GFI circuit. If you do have power there, the lock switch in the door or the power board in the door is bad.

How do I reset the control panel on my dishwasher?

could be wites in the door at the hinge, the microswitches in the door lick assembly, or if it is a series of flashes it could mean a code depending on your model number. Last to check is visuals on the control board for burning, or any loose wiring.

The dish washer starts to fill then stops and starts again then stops and the red light blinks on and off

Hello,
Does it blink seven times, pause, then seven times, pause, seven times, etc. ?? If so you may have a bad heater element. Or the water temp into the D/W is not hot enough. Most machines require at least 120 degree water to work properly. Take a close look at the heater if it looks ok you'll have to check it and the heater circuit with a meter. Turning the breaker off for 7 to 10 minutes will reset the control board but wont fix the heater of course. Good Luck

This dishwasher does not have an internal fuse in it unfortunately. Check for power to the dishwasher and if it definitely has 120 volts you need to order and replace the touch control at the top of your door on the dishwasher. This part common fails and cuts power to the entire unit.

Our GE Dishwasher just stopped all together. No power..nothing. All the fuses seem ok. Not sure why it just died. WIRES seem to be in tact..etc.

Ia the fuse blown? or the breaker tripped off? Must know if these are the problem. Plug in other small appliances in outlets in the kitchen to see if power is there. If not go to breaker box(usually in garage) check your sticker label and reset horizontal switch(curcuit breaker)back to on position. Note; sometimes these breakers can look like there on, if not sure switch off and on again. If you have power to outlets( INCLUDING WERE WASHER IS PLUGGED IN) you'r all set. Check the outlet where washer is plugged in, you may find a breaker built-in to it. The reset will be between upper & lower outlet, if so this needs to be pushed in.(most have tiny red button) Keep in mind the outlet might be defective. Never work on electrical untill you are sure that you have the right breaker OFF! If not sure call a professional! Good luck, best regards.

Check the wiring in the units junction box. Its located at the bottom right corner. You will likely find melted connectors. If so, you need to cut the wires back and replace these connectors. Make sure you turn the power off before doing any of this work of course. Good Luck.

Bosch Dishwasher will not power on

I saw my repair man do the following, which you might try...
Open the door and simultaneously press & hold down the power button with the 2 buttons used on your model to "Cancel & Drain." If the unit comes on it now is in self-diagnosis mode. Release the buttons and close the door. The unit should start to fill with water. Press the power button to exit the mode.

Kitchenaid 24" SS dishwasher

the first thing to check is power. check your breakers to see if any are tripped. if so turn it off than on some breakers do not reset if you just switch them to the on position. also check if it has a plug or shut off switch in a cabinet nearby .

Make sure you visit the Bosch dishwasher recall website as this model is under the recall with a faulty controller which may cause a fire! Check your model under http://microsites.boschappliances.com/safetyrecall/dishwasher/
then call 800.856.9226 to setup a recall repair appointment. We just found out about this recall and was never notified by Bosch even though we registered our unit after we purchased it...talk about poor customer service! Hope this helps!
