SOURCE: Component Cable

Are you just using the yellow cable at this point, because the quality would in fact be awful? Using the green, red & blue cables (component cables) would not improve quality much, seeing as the yellow video cable has a resolution of 480i and component cables are set at 480p. Your TV (if it is in fact high definition) would either run at 720p or 1080p depending on what the manual says and what the native resolution is. I would say try and buy and upconvert DVD player and make sure to get an HDMI cable to go from the DVD player to the HDTV (some DVD players come with this cable, but you'll have to look around for them, otherwise look on buy.com or something for some cheap ones). HDMI connection and the upconvert DVD player will improve picture quality significantly.

SOURCE: tv-- signal strength normal but

When ever the picture freezes intermittendly the problem is usually poor connection on the signal line (antenna or connection on tv) or poor reception. Could be the tuner if the tv has one.To eliminate the tuner possibility try anther tv set if possible.
If you still cannot figure out the problem, let me know what kind of set up you have connected to your tv set.
Do you have a satellite or cable box and if you have splitters.

No sound or picture says low digital

Presume this refers to low signal strength. Probably a problem with the aerial or the tuner within the set.
To check install the antenna cable on another tv, if that gives a picture then the set you are referring to must have other issues.
In that case, enter the settings menus available through the remote control and reset it to factory degault then attempt an autotune. If this brings no joy you will probably need the services of a technician.
If the aerial does not give a signal on another set that aerial should be attended to.
A different cable to the aerial socket might be a good idea in case the cable is faulty.

Double image,what to do???

If it's picture that's giving a double image from your terrestrial aerial it's called ghosting , you need to move your antenna it's caused by signal reflection and usually happens when your in a strong signal area.

Picture freezes or breaks up

free view or other device. freeview signal is not strong enough. if you have a booster on aerial change it for a new one. after awhile they weaken the signal and not boost the signal to the tv.also check cables. and aerial if looks damaged.

My neighbourgh can get freeview tv just using his old ariel, i on the other hand can not. have i done something wrong with the tv set up. thanks

Probably not. Freeview signals are hundreds of times weaker than the old analogue signals, so will show up every single problem on a badly maintained, badly installed old external tv aerial.

In most areas, a tv set-top aerial is a waste of time and even a loft aerial may have problems. Any aerial system which is not direct from the external aerial to the tv can also suffer problems, as each Y-splitter and joint wastes an awful lot of signal.

Your fix is to get a proper modern aerial system fitted. If it's well designed and installed with the proper parts and cabling (does not necessarily mean most expensive) then it should last for another 30 or so years and ideally won't need signal amplifiers.

Note that although your neighbour gets reception, he probably suffers regular picture break-up, freezing and /or pixellation especially in poor weather unless the aerial was in top condition beforehand and was relatively modern.

LCD T/V LE26B modelset Samsung LED26B model. On the digital channels the picture freezes and the sound is distorted. The aerial has been checked and is OK.The fault has persisted for over 9 months but...

This might sound like an overly simple solution but it just might help. If you are using an aerial antenna to receiver over the air digital programing and the antenna is in the house, say around the tv, it can easily be blocked. I have been on many service calls where the picture is great until some on walks between the antenna and the source of the signal, the tv station or its tower. If you can elevate the antenna or better yet mount it in the attic, It might solve your problem.

Hi I am Vortash .. usually the problem is aerial the digital aerial is diffrent to the old UHF aerial and you will need to change it should you still be using it .. from what you say the set is working fine and you didnt do anything wrong .. it is just like unlike the old annalouge signal where you would get a picture even if it was poor .. digital systems are less forgiving of low signal and just blank the low signal channels out .. to check for sure if your not already , use a set top aerial.. and move it about to find the best signal if you get more channels problem found so update your aerial ( Or stand the kids in the corner holding the aerial ?LOL ) I hope this helps and that you will be on freeview soon .. oh and check with the ITA that your area has full Freeview transmissions .. there is a 24 hour call line .. on 0800-40 85 902 and they will give you all the information you will require hope this helps Regards Vortash
