I am only taking a educated guess at this but I believe that you have a carburetor or reed valve problem and unless you are experienced at this type of work I can only suggest that you take your saw to a trained technician

sure sounds like you did it all. Was the Plug wet with gas when you took it out to fuel it directly? I would take the plug back out, blow out or let the Cylinder totally dry. Then spray a bit of Starter fluid in the carb and see if you get life. Old gas left in a saw is a Carburetor killer. The paper components in these carbs can not stand the new 10% ethanol gas.
Quick way to check condition of the engine is to remove the muffler. Also make sure that the spark arrest screen is clean. With muffler off, examine the condition of the piston and cylinder. If the piston looks burned and cylinder is scratched, saw will be hard to start. The cylinder and piston should look very smooth. Secondary test to verify condition of engine is to spray plenty of wd40 in cylinder and around piston, then pull the starter slowly. If you see lots of bubbles as you pull, indicates compression is leaking and will be hard to start. If cylinder/piston are in good condition, use new spark plug and retest.
If you haven't done so already I would run some spray carb cleaner through it. If the idle speed is okay then I would adjust high and low screws going very slowly about 1/16 of a turn at a time and run engine up and down after each adjustment. I would remove the muffler and clean the spark arresstor screen to get all the carbon deposits out of it.Carb. cleaner and a medium stiff wire brush work well for this. I would also check the vent in the gas cap to make sure it is open. I also use a product called sea foam in all my engines.For my chain saws I mix 5-6 ounces with 2 1/4 gallon of gas.It really does a good job of keeping everything internally clean. First thing you need to check is the cylinder.Take the spark plug ouy.use a flashlight and look down the hole towards the muffler side.If its scratched up afraid the motor is shot and will need to be rebuilt.If its not scratched up let me know on here.Then I will give you more things to check.
This sounds like the engine was run without oil in the fuel. Remove the muffler and spark plug so that you can look at the cylinder wall and piston skirt. If these surfaces are badly scored, the compression in both crankcase and cylinder head will be nearly non-existent. This will prevent any intake of fuel into the engine. Replacing these damaged parts plus labor will likely exceed the cost of a new similar saw. Hope this helps!
Make sure the muffler has not become plugged. Check the flywheel key as it may have sheared off for some reason causing the timing to be off, yet still generate sparks. Are the sparks blue and snappy? If not, check the ignition module gap to the flywheel magnets--use a thin business card for a gauge. A wide gap can cause weak spark. Hope this gets you running again!
The spark should be blue and snappy. Try a new plug--any help? If not, it may need a new ignition module. Check the flywheel magnets--they should be quite strong. The module gap with the magnets underneath the poles should be about business card thickness. Check the air cleaner and muffler for plugging. Hope this gets it running!

-choke not sticking
-air fuel mixture correct
-bar and chain oil tank full, oil getting on chain
-bar sprocket in good shape getting lubed.
