Question about RCA D52W19 52" Rear Projection Television
When I turn the tv on(52"rca) it will shut down on its own...we had a repair man come in, he said it was the transformer he vaccumed it (did a **** job at that) and said he would call back with a quote on the repair. After waiting, I called him and the quote was $450. to fix the transformer, can I fix it myself and save like $250.
Bad capacitor CP150,and CP120, replaced both caps. As a technician this is 90% of the problems this chassis has.I`ve fixed hundreds or these units in the past few years due tho the failure of these 2 capacitors. If your TV has never been worked on before this is where I would start. The estimate of $450.00 sounds like a guess to me.Sounds to me like he just wanted to condem the unit and really didn`t know what was wrong with it ,or did`nt want to mess with it.No transformer in this chassis could justify a $450.00 est.If I went out there and checked this Tv in home you`d be looking at $265.00 tops for repair. Also save your self future problems and resolder all the connections @ the flyback.Good luck!!
