I have a GE Profile side by side, two years old that has just started doing the same thing. When the compressor kicks on, it sounds like an air compressor in a mechanics garage. Is the compressor going out, or is it the run capacitor as the one gentleman suggested? How do I find out if it is the run capacitor? Can I check it somehow?

Might be, the compressor is loose, now is it loose at base where it is fastened or the bearings are loose.

Pop the hood, start the car...with a/c off, ...have someone turn on the a/ c while you watch the compressor/compressor clutch under the hoid...listen and look to see where the sound is coming from...perhaps the compressor needs oil

I just bought a new frigidaire refrigerator. I plugged it in and it began to emit a large loud humming noise. It almost sounds like something is vibrating inside. Is this normal for a branc new fridge?...

Hi,
It depends....it may be loud for a hour or so, but should quiet down as it cools...
There is an explanation for this, but it is very long and would involve intricate details about refrigeration systems...

If it does not quiet down after a 1/2 day then call the place where you got it and return it...

It Rattles so loud that you can't even hear the person across the table from you it started a year ago with the compressor popping loudly upon turning off, now the whole thing rattles. What gives?

Hi,
Check the fan underneath by the compressor... the fan blades are bent or coming apart...you can easily replace that condenser fan and blades...that will quiet things down for you...

Constant loud noise when frig turns on/comes from bottom

when the compressor is running unplug the ref. and if you hear the noise coming from the compressor then
a ballance spring may be broken inside the compressor.

The compressor will run normally with a broken spring it will just be annoying when it shuts down.

Loud vibrating sound with compressor starts up

remove the back cover and visually inspect the small fan under the fridge, chances are the fan or blade has become unbalanced or the mount has come loose or failed.

There is a loud noise coming from my engine ..sometimes..

oh ok, you probably have air shocks and that is the compressor running... makes sense that it sounds with the engine off... it should not be a loud sound though, normally it's quite quiet and you only hear a faint noise... if it is that loud it's probably a bad compressor
