Question about HP DesignJet 450c InkJet Printer
You need to lubricate the shaft that the carrage runs on. If you dont have the correct lubricant, use sewing machine oil. Switch the machine off and using a cleaning fluid such as methelated spirits or benzine, carefully clean the shaft. Take care not to damage the encoder strip (plastic strip running just above the shaft, its also sharp, dont cut yourself) Also clean the outside of the bushes on either side of the head unit. Then with your hand move the head unit to the middle of the machine and put ONE drop of oil on either side of the head making sure you dont mess any and also making sure it goes to the back and front of the shaft. Move the head slowly left and right, spreading the oil outwards. If necessary use a second drop but do not over oil the shaft under any circumstances, the more oil the more dust builds up. This will solve your problem.
