Hi!
If your Iphone was factory unlocked, you should contact an apple person and get technical assistance.
If you unlocked it with a turbosim or anysim or something like that you should try the new software unlock from the Iphone Dev-Team!

Visit iClarified for a good tutorial. The advantage of this technique is that it is completely undo-able!

Hope i could help, have fun with your iphone!

Was your iphone unlocked? If so, the software update has broken your unlock. Phones that have recently been updated in iTunes to firmware 3.1.3 cannot be re-unlocked, so they can only be used with AT&T SIM cards at this time. Also, without an AT&T SIM iTunes will not connect with the phone again. You need to wait for the unlock for 3.1.3, you can read more at:

Iphone 3g 8gb Officially unlocked sim error problem

the new sim card is connected with having an iphone account. when you say it is officially unlocked.
does this mean that AT&T unlocked your phone?
what i think your saying is that if you have 2 sim cards, one that is in use and the other is a spare you cannot use both. at the same time.
the sims are standalone, to use a spare sim it has to be activated by the carrier, thus disabling your original sim.
when you change sims you will need to reboot the phone that will not change.

Logo itune and no servise

Hi there,

If the iPhone is brand new, it has to be activated using the iTunes software on the pc, plug the iPhone in and follow the guide.

as for the iPhone saying no service and insert SIM, the iPhone will only work with O2 (UK) and Verizon (USA) unless the phone is unlocked to be allowed for use by all carriers.

if you find out that the phone isnt unlocked you will need a SIM Card for either O2 or Verizon Depending on which country you're from !
