How to replace recoil rope on LCT Snow Engine 136 Series Gen II?

if its got a 136 cc briggs and stratton engine, ive got a nifty trick to replace the starter rope and you don't even have to take the cover off , 1st locate the old cords ball end in the rope pulley use a flash light if needed ,cut ball end off with sharp pointed knife, fish out all the old rope thru hole use a old dental pick with a hook end , take a large c -clamp and with a screwdriver push cord pulley backwards "see direction arrow" far as you can clamp with c clamp then take another Bite with screwdriver loosten c-clamp and move it again , repeat this till you have 6 complete turns on pulley (springs pushing back) firmly attach c -clamp to pulley , then measure off 5 feet of new rope attach handle hold to end insert free end thru rope guide hole and into pulley passing it thru hole where knot was located previously (dental pick is great for this ) pull out rope enough you can knot it several times (i melt mine with lighter a bit) Carefull thought there gasoline there too pull rope tight till it knot sets back inside of groove then it simple ever so slowly release c -clamp and guide rope into cover , wow your done and you did'nt need to take engine cover off ropes now in correct posistion !!!!!!!!!

Not all ropes are created equally

Choosing the wrong type of rope for the purpose you are going to be using it for can result in injury and / or broken property. It may seem to you that some ropes are a little thicker than others, or that some feel stronger than some others. It is very important that you know what you are going to be using your rope for and doing a little research before you walk into a hardware store and blindly buy just any rope.

For water skiing the ropes that come with the ski isn't made to handle shock loading, this is when the rope goes completely slack and then get taught very quickly. This can lead to injury should the rope snap. This is why many water skiers and water tubers go out to buy replacement ropes.

There are many different strengths of towing ropes and cables, the recommended strengths for tubing are 3,350 lb. break strength, 4,100 lb. break strength and 6,000 lb. break strength. A regular rope that you might pick up at a hardware store might only have a break strength of 1,350 lb. which is not strong enough. Also when you buy the rope specially made it will have the knots already in the rope so you don't have to tie them yourself. When you do tie the knots yourself it tends to reduce the strength of the rope.

Its always better to be safe than sorry. When it comes to safety in a water sport don't take your chances with the cheaper rope, buy the right stuff!

Building your own ladder golf set

Building your own set for ladder golf is relatively easy and shouldn't take you too long. So you can be up and running in just a few hours.

You are going to need is 1" PVC pipe cut into 6 12-inch pieces and 9 24-inch pieces. You are also going to need 6 elbow fitting, 6 t-fittings. For the balls you are going to need 24 solid golf balls (2 sets of 12 in 2 different colors) and about 28 feet of nylon rope.

To building the ladder to form the base take 4 of the elbow fittings and two t-fitting and the 6 24-inch pipes. Connect the pipes to the elbows and the T's so that they flat side of the T is facing down. There should be an empty socket facing up. When you are finished you should have a rectangle that is 4ft by 2ft with 2 upward facing sockets to hold the ladder.

Next you want to build the ladder. Start by taking one of the remaining 24-inch pipes and attaching an elbow fitting to each end. Then attach a 12-inch pipe to the other side of the elbow. At the other end of the 12 inch pipe you are going to attach a t-fitting, continuing along the plane of the 12-inch pipes attach 2 more 12-inch pipes and in the cross plane attach a 24-inch pipe. Repeat this for the bottom step of the ladder. After you have attached the last pipe fit the open ends into the base and there you have your three step ladder for playing.

To make the balls you are going to need a drill to drill a hole through the center of the 24 balls. After you have drilled the holes in the balls take your nylon rope and measure and cut it into 12 20-inch pieces. It is suggested that you burn the ends of the rope so that they don't fray. Stick the rope through the holes and tie a knot on either side of the ball so they don't move. Put one ball on each end of the rope. You are going to need 6 ropes with 2 balls on each.

Once you have finished making the balls you are ready to play! Some play with each player on their own ladder, if you want to play that way you can follow these instructions again to build a second ladder or you can just use one.

Broken starter cord to re thread

I'm going to assume you have a new rope. If you look at the rewind pulley (plastic disc) there should be a hole where the original rope went through. Run the rope through this hole and then through the hole in the starter housing itself. At the other end of the rope near the pulley, tie a knot at the end of the rope and pull it through the housing until your new knot is up against the hole in pulley. Next put the rope through the starter handle and tie another knot. Now you should have a rope with a knot on both ends with the handle near one, and the pulley on the other end. Now if you look at the pulley on the outer edges, you will see a notch in it. Hold the rope into that notch and spin the pulley in a clockwise rotation for about four turns. Don't let go of pulley because there will be tension on the spring. Hold pulley with your thumb while pulling rope out of housing on the handle side until taught. Hold rope outside of housing and release pulley. Now slowly release rope on handle side of housing an let it slide back around pulley. When tension is released and if there is still rope hanging out of starter housing, repeat the above steps but instead of going four turns around with rope in notch, only go one at a time until the handle is all the way back to housing. It's important not to go too many times with your wrap around because it will cause spring to be too tight which may cause breakage in the future....Just go far enough to let handle touch the housing and you should be good to go.

This would be much easier to show in a video than in type. I hope this helps.

I pull the cord to start my tiller and it does not engage the engine how do i fix

Hello sir,This usually happens at the most inopportune time. You go out mow the lawn, pull the rope and it comes out in your hand. Here's how to fix it yourself.
First, we'll talk about a simple rope replacement. In most cases you will have to remove the blower housing from the engine, remove any plastic outer cover, empty and remove fuel tank lay on the deck, tecumseh engines remove the screw on the oil filler cap, remove the four bolts holding housing on. to get to the underside of the rewind starter where the rope is. We'll assume at this point that the spring is ok and you can just wind it back up again.or you will need a new rope, you can get new rope at most home improvement centers that sell mowers, comes with handle, You can check the spring by turning on the hub in a counter-clockwise direction and see if the spring gains tension. Do not try to remove the spring from its holder or you may end up having to take the mower in for service.
1. Remove the rope from around the hub. Since there is no tension, it should come right out. If you are lucky and it broke near one end, you can probably just re-use it. If it is badly frayed or too short, you will need to find a replacement at a local hardware store.
2. Attach the handle or tie a knot in one end of the rope so it will not wind all the way into the hub. You also may want to burn the rope ends to keep them from fraying and causing a problem in the future. Set the rope aside where you can grab it once you wind up the spring.
3. Wind the hub in a counter-clockwise direction using your thumb to keep it from unwinding, until the spring is tight. Then let it come back slightly so the rope hole in the starter housing lines up with the rope hole in the hub.
4. Stick the rope through both holes while holding the hub from unwinding. This is tricky because you don't want the hub to unwind on you before you have the rope secured in it. A pair of needle nose pliers or a small screwdriver or pick may help get the rope through.
5. Tie a half hitch knot in the rope after you have it through both holes. While holding the rope, release your hold on the hub and let the rope slowly pull itself back into the starter.
6. Put the blower housing back on and your ready to start the engine & mow. hope this helps, don't forget the 4 thumbs up,any comment welcome, thank you. Hello sir, Pull rope installation, place mower on a good work surface, empty the fuel, remove the fuel tank, lay tank on mower deck, remove any plastic outer cover, now remove engine metal cover housing, there should be four bolts or screws in housing, remove old rope, get new rope from your local repair shop you will need 5 ft of # 5 rope,ok remove pull handle from old rope, burn both ends of new rope to prevent fraying, lets install new rope, place housing in your left hand holding against your body turn pulley right to left until stops, back off until holes line up,you might want to put a screwdriver through the cover grates to keep pulley from turning, tie a knot in one end of rope, put other end through holes from the inside out through pulley, pull until tight, now let rope wind up slowly until stops mark where rope stops, pull rope out about half way clamp rope or tie so rope don't go back in,cut rope at mark put handle on untie rope let rope retract.you should be good to go,hope this helps,,any comments welcome.thank you. !!

Good day, The pull cord on my friends coleman powersport 1850 was cut and i have not been able to find any info on how to remove the pulley to repair it.The pulley cover is riveted to the the fly wheel...

Don't drill out the rivets. You have to remove the larger cover as one unit. There are several screws, some of which might be covered by labels. When you go to replace the rope, you have to pre-load the spring. You can do this by winding an extra long rope on the pulley, extracting about half of it through the normal hole (thereby winding up the return spring), and cutting off the extra rope that you have extracted. Be sure to tie a knot in the rope before you cut it so you don't lose the end of it back inside. If the pulley doesn't provide enough room to wind the extra rope, you can also preload the spring by turning the pulley (in the direction that would "push" the rope out through the hole) about 5 revolutions before you put the end of the rope through the hole. Good luck! Al K
