Question about Apex Digital LD4088 LCD TV
Hi i want to know what to do do i go to the manual or something?
The power supply is down. On the power supply board, location C205 is the culprit. You will also see an inverter connection near C205. What you will find is a dark brown tantalum capacitor, not the usual electrolytic capacitors shown in other answers. The value of this capacitor is 6KV at 47 joules. This capacitor or capacitors are found in surge protectors. In your case this capacitor is used as a standby (always on) waiting for your command to power on. This capacitor will light the screen (inverter will come on) and complete the action of a properly working power supply. Find a reputable electronics or TV shop (not Radio Shack), print and show them this note as well as your power supply. As a TV man, I never throw anything away. I happen to find this value of capacitor in a Philips TV power supply. If you can replace this cap, it will bring back your TV. Thanks for asking, Matt of Martins TV Repair.
