Hp photosmart memory problem. unsupported card

When I insert a 1 GB or 4GB memory card into my hp Photosmart M415 it does not recognise the 1gb card. When I insert the 4gb card it says it is unsupported. I have formated both memory cards but problem still exists.

Hello There

  • Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  • 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  • 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  • 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  • 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  • 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

The M415 works with SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card and won't work with the camera. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

While cleaning out my elderly mothers house I found a Hp Photosmart M22. The memory card and batteries were missing. Otherwise it looks OK. I put in new batteries and a Lexar SDHC 4 GB memory card. It...

The M22 won't work with your 4GB SDHC card. It only works with MMC and SD cards up to 1GB in size. Having said that, if after cleaning the battery contacts and putting in new batteries, it still doesn't work, I'd toss it and get a newer camera. Giving its age and (lack of) capabilities, it just isn't worth repairing.

    Hello,

Looking at the support site for your printer, I see that the largest size SD card tested in many of the Photosmart printers is 1GB. Although it doesn't specifically list yours, I think that may be the problem. I also looked at the technical specs for yours and it doesn't list max size cards.

I am trying to put a Lexar 4GB card into my HP Photosmart M517 but get "Unsupported Card" each time. What can I do?

The M517 is designed to work with SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. While SDHC cards will fit into SD slots, they will not work. You need to use SD cards 2GB and smaller.

Hi - You can download the manual by clicking the link underlined in blue below:

    Photosmart M415

    See page 166:

Also try formatting the card in the camera as cards that have been used in other cameras or formatted on a PC may not work correctly until formatted in the camera.

Please take a moment to rate this solution & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!

    Photosmart M415 Memory card

Use the camera settings to reformat the card first. Then, if that doesn't correct the problem, it may be that the card is at fault.

    Pls rate if helpful.
    Thanks!
