Question about Sony DVP-NS57P

1 Answer

Sound output reduced

My DVD player was fine until one day the volume output drastically reduced.  The TV is fine and its volume is functioning okay.  The player used to work okay till now.  The images are coming on fine but the volume has dropped.  I have to keep the TV volume to the max to make out what's going on on the DVD player.

There is a volume control on the Remote of your DVD player , increase the volume in that and it should solve. Additionally check the audio output cord of DVD player if it is intact and tightly fitted.

Connecting a toshiba sd-v392 to an old analog tv

Make sure your menu settings are correct audio outputs may have a setting for digital or analog sound output check that these are set up to analog or stereo output .Also try hooking the sound up direct to a stereo system or amp to be sure you have output! Also you may not be able to get your sound thru the convertor box!! Because the convertor is a reciever of digital signals not a line amp. for audio !! Hope this helps11 AAAAAAAAAAAAAE!!!! grace0308, Many of the combo units have multiple video outputs and some, like the SVHS and RGB Component outputs, are for DVD only. Make sure that you are plugged into the proper video output. Play a tape and try them all.

No sound but plays the dvd fine

I think this is due to wrong Audio settings.
Try to change audio setting as Stereo/Right or Left/5.1 from the Audio setup of the Menu

Dvd sound isn't working

In addition to the suggestion which I fully concur with, there is one small thing I would add. Kari you may not be aware that there is often an "internal setting" in the dvd player for its output volume. Sometimes the setting is inadvertently changed to a permanently "muted" or silent mode so that no audio can be heard. This internal setting is usually accessed by pressing the "Setup" button on your remote control and browsing through the main menus to the "Audio" or "Sound Setting" submenu. Once there you will see if the settings are correct in order to HEAR AUDIO (sound that is). Be sure to turn the "MUTE" to "off" and set the output volume to about 3/4 high setting. Then get out of setup mode and play your dvd. My point is this...on some "kareoke" feature units I have found many people mistake the front manual volume control for a DVD audio output level control when playing dvd's. This is not the case..the output volume settings are "internal" and accessible through the remote control only. Hope this helps Kari !- hattonhall
