15 to 20 mins screen will go blank and will have A black screen reboot and it will work 10 or 15 mins. RELOADED XP AND THIS DID NOT HELP, SAME PROBLEM

Your Dell OptiPlex GX260 PC Desktop computer is overheating. It is shutting itself down to prevent component failure.

Ensure that the Processor heat sink is clean of dust so sufficient air can flow through the heatsink and cool the processor.

Install additional fans in your computer 120mm are best but 80mm fans will do fine.

Clean the computer chassis of dust as well.

Thanking you

Installed new mother board to hp dv4000 laptop all went well but after 10 min ish the computer freezes and has to be forced to shut down like it is getting hot and will not reboot with the display working...

is that an original mobo from the manufacturer? if not or yes i think one of the chips might be getting burnt due to a short circuit...claim a warranty repair or replacement... it might be one of the voltage controller chips or capacitors that was burnt... might b a dust issue too

Reboots after 10 min

This is an overheating problem. The fan may be getting shut off by the computer as it cannot check the heat (Fans go on and off with temperature). Look in your boot-up configuration for a system temperature check or download a utility from the manufacturer to see if the temperature is checking correctly. Could be a bad fan motor or a bad power supply inside the computer. Likely a job for a service shop or VERY techy friend.

Power went out last week. Can't print. The jobs

OK try this Remove Power Cord from Printer, remove USB cable from PC. Reboot PC. Wait 10 mins, then connect, the Power again to printer. Turn OFF PC. While OFF plug in the USB cable TO any other USB other than the one used before. Turn PC ON. After a bit you should hopefully have a working printer. If that doesn't work, Unplug USB, reboot & then using your DVD re-install it all again.

No problem, it's with almost all printers in this "low" class.Always need to reboot the PC to delete documents in queue. The other way is waiting, but in some cases you will wait more than 10 mins.

The LCD display dims almost to black after 20-40 mins.

Power save settings or it may have an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the screen to "match" the surrounding light. Power settings in the control panel will hold the key.

I had a brief power outtage and now my computer will not cut back on. the light on the motherboard is green. My computer is demison 5100 desktop.

Hi there.
Reset all the surge protectors if you have any, remove the power cord from the back of the desktop for at least 10 mins, press the on/off button periodically to drain any residual power from the machine. After 10 mins plug the power cord in again and try to reboot the machine.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!

Pc stuck in sleep mode...

You will need to replace the hard drive which has any version of windows operating system, or you will have to re-install windows xp on that computer. Assuming if the computer has a green light and monitor has an orange light. I've encountered this problem where I work at.
