Make a note of what the file you are downloading and then do a search for that file it is most likely in a Temp folder

Even though i just installed realtek ac'97audio driver on my presario v2000..the driver won't start (code 10)..and i can't update it too..

What Operating System are you using, and what is the file name of the driver?
Did you download it from HP Support?

For example:
This is the driver download page for Windows XP,

In the Audio menu there are two files listed.

One is the Conexant High Definition Audio Driver

The other file is the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio.

This file must be downloaded first, (Save File), then Installed, and computer restart.
{Microsoft UAA}
Once Windows has loaded again go back to the website, and download, and install the Conexant driver. Then computer restart.

Driver for Windows 2000 is just the Microsoft UAA driver above.
Driver for Vista (32-bit) is just the Conexant driver.

Did you;
A) Save the file to your computer? (Save File)
B) Open the file, and install it?
C) Restart your computer?

How to download drivers compaq cq40

Go to HP Support. Type in Compaq Presario CQ40, and the rest of the product number. (On bottom of laptop in white Service Tag.
P/N = Product Number. HP's model number)

Then choose the operating system you are using. Finally left-click on the drivers you wish. If there is more than one, download each one, one at a time. Save them.

(I would suggest in Downloads.
XP = Start > My Documents, double-click on Downloads.
Vista and Win 7 = Left-click on the windows logo button, Documents, double-click on Downloads.

You can specify where you want the file/s to download to. If you are not aware of how, and would like to know, please state in a Comment.

SAVE this file/s instead of opening them from HP Support.
Install the drivers yourself)

If you have already tried downloading the files, but found you couldn't, check the settings on your anti-virus software. It may be set to not let the file/s be downloaded.
('Sees' the driver file as a virus, and won't let it download)

After you save the driver file, you have to install it.
Go to where the driver file was saved, Double-click on the driver file name.
Follow the instructions of the Installation Wizard.

(Essentially just click on Next, Next, and Finish. Windows knows the proper place to put the driver files. No need to change anything)

If I am way off base with all of this prattle, come back, and state so.
Let's find a solution to your problem.

I brought a HP Compaq Presario C773TU Laptop which comes with DOS only. I put Windows XP on it . I need all the drivers i.e VGA, Audia/Video etc...

Hello and thank you for using Fixya's services.

You can download all of the drivers from ompaq's website free of charge. If the computer cannot access the internet, save the files to a CD-ROM or flash drive and use this to transfer the files to the laptop.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Enter product number and choose operating system.

First thing you need to do is go to this site:

HP C733TU Downloads

Select your operating system and you will be taken to a page with available downloads.

I will assume that you are using Vista.

Click on the file under "Driver - Audio".

This will take you to the download page. On here click on the file name or the "Download Only" button.

When the download window opens, select Save. Save the file to a place where you know how to access it after the download. To make it easy, save it to your desktop.

After the download, run (double-click) the file on your desktop and the file will install.

If you have any trouble, just comment back.

Conexant audio driver is disabled

Try to download the driver again from the Internet.

Save the file into C: drive (note the location).

Try one of these methods to install it.

1. Find the file you download and double click it.

If this doesn't work...

1. Try enabling the audio card in Device Manager...

To do this, right click "My Computer" and click on "Manage". Then Click on "Device Manager" on the window that opens.

Look for your audio device. Right click it, then click "enable".

3. From the same place you can update the driver....

Right click the audio device, select Properties

Then click on Update Drivers.... now browse to the place you saved the driver file.

Hopefully one of these things will work.

Drivers for Compaq Presario C790EI

You will need to go to the manufacturers website for each component and download the XP drivers for each one. In other words, if video device is a Radeon Mobility - go to the ATI website and download and install the XP driver for the Radeon Mobility card. Do this for each peripheral you need a driver for. I suggest saving all the driver files and burning them to a CD for safekeeping should you ever need them again.
