Set Up #1

2. Press and hold the Magic button until the red LED gives a delayed blink.
3. Continue holding the Magic button while you enter your 3 digit code.
4. You should receive 2 quick flashes after entering your code.

there is a star button on the remote or maybe a button with power. that is the magic key!

That means that you either need to buy a replacement remote (or use an universal remote) , or you need to replace the TV IR sensor, that is a small board located inside tv.

I suspect the unit might need service. If it were only the remote, new batteries would, of course, be in order. But that part about the manual power button being ineffective suggests something else is affecting the set. Sorry.

I have this problem starting today. Unfortunately, others who have fixed it have done the following.

* Unplug TV for hours and it worked

* Buying manual switch to the outlet or surge protector and switch power off that way.

It appears that I'm in no mood to spend hundreds to get this fixed for hundreds of dollars and just going the Radio Shack route of buying a switch which would probably be more of savings. But needless to say, I hope that is the only problem I have.
