No matter how many times I've restarted the game from the previous overwritten file, the screen freezes at the same spot during the animation. I have solved 123 puzzles. It looks like a bug. Any idea how to get rid of it? Thanks in advance!

This worked for me: do not delete your game. Click start new game and go through until you are in your room walking around. Then click L+R+start+select to restart the game. Choose your save file and it should load normally.
When you launch the game, before it gets to the main menu, the game shows a screen of just the Ubisoft logo. During this time, press L, B, X and Select at the same time. This will then ask if you want to really delete the data. Confirm and it will wipe your save.
the wrong answer to the password questions until it takes you to a
screen that says to consult the manual. Then press the L and R & Select
buttons simultaneously. You can then enter a new password. You will also
have to go in and edit out any previous entries made. You can also
setup your profile again by going to the settings area.
Hi, lucia bergma. Now this is only a thought, You know when we
have to save our game, and overwrite a saved file, what about
starting again from the last saved file and try it from there. Never know it might work. Let me know if it works. Pitstop
You can try wiping the data on the cartridge completely. I looked in the manual and there's no information on how to do this. It's usually something involving holding down two or three buttons while starting the game. If you can wipe all the data it should be like you have a new game. My suggestion is to call Nintendo. I'm sure they'll do their best to help you out. Don't bother mentioning to them that the game is used, they might not be pleased about that.
After a lot of frustrated searching for a response, have sussed the resetting.
When you tap the dog to launch the game, immediately hold down the XYAB buttons and the Left and Right ones (WHICH I HAVE FINALLY REALISED ARE NOT THE EXTREMETIES OF THE CROSS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DS SCREEN) but are on the outside top of the whole console on either side of where you put the card in.
Almost immediately the screen will say, do you want to delete the previous play, are you sure, really really sure, and then it thinks about it for a good while and then it is reset.
We still think the main problem of not being able to actually name a dog will continue, but at least we have reset it.
