Red lights when switched on ,

Check out the xbox website and use the warranty verification tool to see if it is still under warranty. I believe the consoles with three red rings get an additional couple of years under warranty...

Because the Xbox is new (less that a year old) Microsoft will repair this problem for free whether the red ring has 1,2 or 3 flashing red lights.

You will also need to tell them about the laser not reading properly.

They will no doubt send you a replacement Xbox as they are well aware of these issues and have even extended their warranty to 3 years with the 3 light red ring of death.

You may however have to wait something in the region of 6 weeks for the Xbox to be returned.

THIS IS LINKED with the 3 red lights, or the red ring of death, so as long as its not 3 years old, Microsoft will repair it in the 3 year extended warranty, so head to xbox.com/support and get a repair, should take about 1-2 weeks.

All the latest xbox are upgraded from the old ones, i have an arcade i brought last year and had no problems what so ever.

Even better they now come with 3 years!! garentee so you will be safe :)

Great choice, xbox's are fantastic, tho i would adise you to go for the premium xbox as you get a hard drive with it, and you will be needing a hard drive to go online.

Your console is most likely in need of repair.

The 3 Red Lights (known as the red ring of death) is caused when the unit overheats, and burns out some integral parts on the motherboard.

Call Microsoft, if your Xbox is less than 3 years old, they'll set you up with an exchange. It'll take 4 weeks, and you'll have to pay for shipping your broken Xbox, but it'll get fixed.

As far as I know, there's no way to permanently repair the Red ring of death yourself.

This exact thing is happening to not only me but to also a friend of mine. You will probably notice that the fan kicks on really high and then goes to 2 flashing red lights, this is because the 360 is overheating or thinks its overheating. My friend's 360 starts up with the fan kicked on high and then only plays for a minute or 2, followed by the 2 red lights. If its under warranty send it back to Microsoft, I took mine and my friends 360 apart and replaced the thermal paste with arctic silver, but it kind of only helped a little for mine and not at all for my friends. SEND IT BACK!!!!!!

If you can still HEAR sound, but can't see. Check your Audio Video Cable.

It's the colorful one (red, white, yellow) (red, blue green, white, red)

Make sure the connections are secure into the back of the TV as well as the connection to the back of the Xbox 360.

hi, it sounds like a case for microsoft. but a word of advice. you can upgrade your warranty first if it has run then phone them up a week or two later to say your system has developed a fault but i didnt tell you this. ha

You don't need any money mate. Microsoft recently extended their warranty to 3 years for the three red lights problem. all you have to do is get in touch with microsoft and tell them about the three red lights, and they should either repair your X Box or they will replace it with a new one.

So 1 year from the day you buy it of any damage to it.

Then 3 year warranty of the "3 red lights" (red ring of death) couple weeks ago (including me) experienced the 3 red lights, so Microsoft extended everyone's warranty for another 3 years only on the 3 red light issue.


I've only had to send in my 360 1 time and that was of the red lights, other then that no problems.
