Purchased this player for my daughter almost 3 years ago. It seems to have died a few days ago. It will not even come on! Is it done for?!

Sad to say, yes. It is done for. Even if you could obtain the replacement parts, it wouldn't be economical nor reliable in the long term; throw it out and buy a new player, or put this one in your garage out of harm's way if you can't bear to throw it away.

It is cheaper to replace the whole player rather than trying to repair a broken/dead one.

It won't play ANYTHING!

Unfortunately, the lasers can eventually fail in all DVD players. Sometimes they just get too dirty with oils, dust, and hairs, to read the data. Especially if it's a child putting the DVD's in and they aren't cleaned properly before putting them in the player.

The only thing I can recommend at this point is to try a commercial cleaning disc. You can find them by searching "Laser Disc Cleaner". For $20 or so, you may be able to clean the lens enough to get the unit working again. However, if the laser has failed and is "burned out" then you might as well scrap the player. Or possibly take it apart if you really want to keep it and pull the DVD drive out and replace it. Or take it to a repair shop if it makes financial and logical sense to you.

Good luck!

Player won't read the DVDs

some players won't play burnt discs. If you are using a factory made disc and you still get this, then you can try and clean laser lens with rubbing alcohol and cotton swab.
If the cleaning doesn't work, then the laser lens circuit will need to be replaced.

The computer does not recognize my Atak MP3 player.

My Zen Vision M Series has worked fine with my Dell Inspiron 1150 for about a year with no recognition problems. However, as of about a month ago my PC denies a connection with the Zen now. In many instances a windows message keeps appearing saying that the the usb ports cannot accomodate the connection between the two fast enough. I had minor problems with the usb ports, however, a simple reconnection resolved the problem. How can I get my computer (which is running XP) to recognize my MP3 player and might it really be a usb problem? Would appreciate any assistance mel4pat2000
