SOURCE: code for Vizio tv
I contacted Vizio the other day. They tell me that they use the same generic codes as LG. I have Suddenlink Cable, formerly Charter, so I still use the Charter remote. My remote only needed 3 digits and I have noticed that many need 4 or 5. I can tell you that the LG code worked for my tv. I can power on/off, volume, and change the channel. All other functions require the manufacture's remote. The code I used is 005. There was also 004 but that did not work on my tv. Hope this helps someone!

SOURCE: dtv universal remote
Go to the "automatic code search" section of your DTV user's guide and follow the instruction for programing your DT remote. If the batteries are weak, you may need to change them in order to program the remote.

SOURCE: code for Vizio tv
Unfortunately, those remotes only take a 3 digit code. I bought 2 new remotes, which do take 4 digit codes, but the code(s) for the Vizio do not work (or partially). I found that the 4 digit codes for the Goldstar and LG work better than those provided for the Vizio, but still not as good as the original Vizio remote.

These codes I have may or may not work depending on what make your universal remote is. Some remotes use 3 digit codes - some are 4 digit others can use 5 digit.
The codes that I have for Vizio are all 4 digit (except one 5 digit) so if your remote accepts these then this is worth a try.
If your TV is HD try the code 1004 first
Otherwise try - 1343, 1018, 0178, 0502, 0627, 1756, 1758, 0128, 0117, 1017, 1078, 0030, 0056, 0081
I have one 5 digit code which is 11758
Hope this helps. If not post up a comment with the make and model of your remote.
Otherwise if the problem is resolved please do rate my answer. Thanks.
