You probably need a blu-ray drive. A blu-ray drive is essentially three parts, a CD type player, A DVD type player and a Blu-ray type player. Any one or combination can fail. DVD type games may work but not Blu-ray movies. Blu-ray games OK but not DVDs, etc. a blu-ray drive needs alignment so this is a sevice shop issue.
Your PS2 laser is wearing out. When the laser starts to go, first games will skip... then eventually the PS2 will stop reading DVDs altogether. If you keep using it to read CDs, it will eventually stop reading those too and the laser will die altogether. Here's a website that will help you identify your PS2 model, show you how to replace the laser, and they sell parts and do repairs too http://store.richspsxparts.com/slps2direerl.html
Try playing a Demo game, if you dont have any download it from playstation network. The point is just to force the sytem to play games and if you notice, movies and games are listed under a different folder in the icon's list, so playing a demo game will force the system to play the game and you should be able to play your games fine after that,. Thing is that a game's info might've got stuck in freeze mode when the system was shut off unproperly while a game disk was still inside, that's all. Good luck, dont wanna see any PS3 comrades suffering the unspeakable horridness of not been able to play games. Be strong my friend.
I called the manufacturer. They admitted to improper instructions. They provided me a fix to their copying protocol and it worked. Also, they game me instructions on how to fix already copied tapes. It works well and I would have to say I was impressed with their customer/technical service.
Yes, but is easy if you have a A/V Receiver like a Marantz or Yamaha and put in the "MultiZone" Out, in Marantz you can see in your room example a Cable, and in MultiZone a PS3 DVD, 2 outs with 1 source (Receiver).
If your PS2 is chipped for playing PS2 fake games then try the following steps:
1)Insert the DVD movie in your PS2 and hold the power button of PS2 until it light goes red.
2)Now again hold the power button until the light turns in green. and after that your DVD movie should work.
If above solution does not works replace the lens with a new one.
