SOURCE: It will boot up to the windows screen and freezes.

If your computer was able to boot up but unable to load the Windows, the most common cause would be the recently intstalled software or Windows update.

To remove this, follow these steps. Skip Step 1 if it is not relevant.

Step 1: Removing recently added hardware
Use the steps in this section to disconnect any recently added hardware and test for the error.

NOTE: If a new internal device (sound card, hard drive, or other) was added to the computer before the error message started to occur, you have to remove it before continuing.

  1. Turn off the PC and unplug the power cord.
  2. Disconnect the mouse, and any other peripherals attached (Printer, scanner, webcam, zip drive, phone cord, network cable and other devices). Leave only the keyboard and monitor cable attached.
  3. Press and hold the power button on the front of the PC. Release after 10 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back in.
  5. Turn on the computer.
  6. The computer displays the We apologize for the inconvenience... message. Allow the timer to count down from 30 to 0.
  7. If the computer successfully starts to the Windows desktop and does not restart to the error message, connect one device and wait until Windows recognizes it.
  8. To find if a device is causing the error, continue connecting the devices, one at a time, restarting the computer each time, until the device that is causing the error is found.
NOTE: If this does not solve the issue try to do a system restore BUT it will delete all your files and programs you install by yourself after the system. You will be able to use the pc as a new pc.

SOURCE: green light comes on and the fan but monitor will not

Does it display on your monitor "No Input Signal"? If so it could very well be your motherboard. Same thing happened to me. :(

SOURCE: Black Screen Compaq Presario

Do you see the BIOS splash screen or anything?
Try booting into safe mode by pressing F* as soon as you power on the computer. If the monitor works, then it is a bad driver. Roll back to a previous restore point, boot to last known good coonfiguration. Last Known good configuration is available from the same as the safe mode screen.

Won't start but CPU fan vibrates but will not go full blast. Intermittant

It appears you have a faulty CPU fan and it is causing the CPU to overheat and shut down.
I suggest you replace the CPU fan. remove any dust from the heatsink and put new heatsink compound on the CPU/heatsink.

I have a problem with my compaq presario cq60 due to overheating atimes the laptop turns off automatically when it gets too hot with is the problem

check the underneath of the laptop, there should be several access panels, remove these and look for fans, clear them of any dust you can see, the main fan should be blowing through a heatsink (lots of small fins) try to get to the part between the fan and heatsink as sometimes you can get a lot of dust build up there.

Compaq presario C 700 fan runs non stop

Make sure the air vents are clear when it is operating, also use a can of compressed air to blow out the dust from the vents and fan. This should make it cool more efficiently and the fan shouldnt run as much afterward.

Preasrio CPU fan is noisy and goes on A LOT

It's not your ram. What it means is that the system probably has inhaled too much household dust and is having trouble breathing. That is not a joke. The system has fans, and the fans are responsible for moving fresh air and unfortunately dust into the enclosure, and exhausting the heat. If the air is choked off, the heat builds up. If it gets to the point that the fan runs constant, the processor will slow down to compensate and avoid further overheating. That will make the computer slow. If you feel handy, you might get yourself one of those cans of compressed inert gas they sell at the major chains, unplug the computer and take it outdoors, remove the cover, and commence to cloudmaking. If you don't feel like that is for you, you can take it to a servicer, but it's gonna cost you a little more.

Will not come on

Does it run through the memory test, or begin to post?
Try pressing F8 repeatedly at startup to enter the OS options page and if you boot that far, choose last known good configuration. Otherwise, you may have some kind of hardware or driver conflict, a failing hard drive or even a failing power supply, despite the lights and fans. Finally it could be the result of malware installed on the system.
Here's a great article for general startup troubleshooting.
Here's a link to your system's support page and Here's HP's version for xp.

Here's a link to my recommended malware removal protocols if you get it booted and that seems like the direction to go.
