Need more info. Unplug , remove battery, plug in reboot. Post what happens next? Is the transformer (brick) on the cord getting warm? Have you tried another cord/charger with the EXACT same specs?

SOURCE: acer red light battery

Yes, I know. Aspire 5100 series of Notebook PC, not the Aspire 5230 series. I am looking at the Service Manual for the Aspire 5230 series right now, and the above link is a good basic pictorial guide.

Drop down to the subheading - Aspire 1200. (1200 in Blue)
Go down to the 6th line, scroll across, and left-click on 5230 in blue.
(Takes few seconds before the first page comes up.
In the PDF file page number box at the top, go to Page 119)

2) If you mess up with the connection of the LCD Panel Cable, to the LCD Panel, (On back), your laptop will not power up.
Those tiny contact pins on that cable's connector, must line up exactly, and be plugged in tightly to the LCD Panel.
Not plugged in tightly? You won't see it visually. You have to physically check.

Also use the old tape that was there, to tape over the connector once installed, on the back of the LCD Panel.
Ripped it all the way off? Oops! Use some new tape. (Not duct tape, scotch tape, or medical tape. Box tape with strands in it)

3) Connector of LCD Panel Cable, connected tightly into motherboard?

4) Screen Inverter wires connected? Connectors are keyed differently from each other, BUT, are they connected correctly?

5) Why was the LCD Panel replaced? Damaged? Did the LCD Panel Cable receive damage? Did you perform a cursory visual inspection of it's sheath, at least? Sheath showed ANY damage, did you perform a continuity check of each wire in the cable, with a multimeter set to Ohm's? (LCD Panel Cable unplugged from motherboard, and LCD Panel, of course)

6) If there was damage, did the screen Inverter receive damage?

7) Connect the LCD Panel Cable's ground wire/s back to THE ground screw/s? Good bright clean connection area for those eyelet ground terminal/s?

8) Did you crossover the new LCD Panel to the old LCD Panel, to make sure it is a direct replacement?
A screen Inverter, and an LCD screen, (LCD Panel for Acer), are a MATCHED unit.

9) AC adapter plugged into power, and plugged into laptop, along with the battery?

Post back in a Comment, and if none of the above is the problem, we'll go on from there.

PXE-MOF check cable

PXE is network boot. Go into BIOS and make sure it is detecting your hard drive. If it doesn't then the drive is potentially bad and will need to be replaced.

Turn wifi on

Hello abthomas930,

I think your Wireless Zero Configuration might be turned off.

to reset it and turn it on, do this:

if you can press WindowsKey + R together, it will be a shortcut for you,

but if not, do this:

Click on STart, click on All programs, click on Accessories, Then Select

On the page that comes up type the following:

1.) sc.exe config WZCSVC start=auto

2.) net start WZCSVC

This should reset and restart your wireless settings.

Let me know how it goes after you have tried this, so that we will know

what to do next.

Goodluck and Thanks for using Fixya.

Ive got an acer aspier 5253 it wont boot power light just blinks

If absolutely nothing happens when you turn on the power for this laptop, then your operating system has been blown away somehow.
Acer has one of those hidden partitions with which you can rebuild your laptop as if it just came out of the box, brand new.Look in their manual, or go to their web site, and find the instructions to get to it, and follow those instructions to rebuild your laptop.
You will have to reinstall any applications you had in the laptop before it went south on you, but at least you have a chance at having a working laptop once again.
Good luck.

I am trying to connect a aspire 5253-bz893 with windows 7 to a workgroup window vist and it wont work can do this or do i have to upgrade to a windows 7

No, you should not have to upgrade for this issue. You need to go to the network and sharing center, on both computers, and change advanced sharing settings. AND in essence you have to share something before you can see it on other machines.
If you have Norton you need to make major changes to accomplish this connection. Consider turning it off until you get a connection...Then turn on and change permission settings until you can connect again...
