SOURCE: kodak 5300 first said error 3802 now says print head missing or loose

I got the same Problem as listed above. This is the way how I was able to solve it:

  • Remove the color and black ink cartridges and the printhead. (the 5300 Printhead can be removed by pressing a button on top of the carriage and a slight pull --> for better instructions use this official Kodak PDF)
  • Try to clean the printhead and the carriage with a slighty wet cloth from ink. CAUTION!: better not touch the green electronic chip! Be carefull while cleaning.
  • Reinstall the printhead and the ink cartridges.
  • If the printer detects a 'new' printhead just do a calibration and your are done. If not try to print a test page.

Hope this solves the Problem. Best wishes

SOURCE: The printer says that my print head is loose or

Hi,

First thing to do is get the top off which can be easier said than done. The printer has four screws holding the top. After that remove the control panel by undoing the four screws holding it in place. This isn't strictly necessary but it makes life easier. Now move the print head to the left. To do this you have to lower a locking bar that is located at the base of the head. The head can be quite hard to move but it does slide left. Under the print heads you will find two pads of hard foam. These collect the ink when you perform a normal head clean and keep the print head moist. Soak these with water . Pool water on them and let it run through (it goes through to a large pad at the bottom of the machine by the way). Fold some tissue and lay it on the base when the heads pass over. Push the head back and forth over the tissue to clean the actual head. The tissue will come out covered in ink.Now for the tricky part get an old printer cartridge and remove the label on top that says "do not remove". Under the label you will find a couple of holes. Widen them / open them with a drill bit about 3 mm is good. Fill the cartridge with water and put it in the printer. Push the heads back over to the right as far as they will go. This will cause the sponges to come right up against the heads. Leave the set up over night. In the morning test the printer. Run a couple of head cleans with the cleaning cartridge in. Your problem is solved now

Thank you!

I bought a Kodak ESPC310 printer a year ago...not happy with this product at all!!! I have had different problems from printing a test sheet and loosing 15% of my ink!!!!! to needing a new "printhead""!!!!!!! R u kidding me! This thing is a bit over a year old...and the company does nothing about it. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER KODAK PRINTER...I don\'t care if I have to pay more for ink for another printer..In the long run It is costing me a fortune to keep this piece of running...Thumbs down for Kodak!

Why is print head loose or missing?

The print head houses the printer LASER if it is missing NO Printing. OR Loose normally the print head is located well inside the machine so you cant see the LASER beam when it is working.

Take the machine back to who sold it if the LASER ?PRINT HEAD is missing

Trimmer head will not stay connected to shaft

Should be reverse threaded so that the rotation tightens it. However it could also be missing a locking nut or pin.

Scanner locked

The lock for the scanner is on there so that the scanner head is not damaged when the printer is moved. It is usually a lever on or around the scanner portion of the All-in-one device.

Although I'm not familiar with this specific model, I would look around the back of the printer about half way up on either side for a mechanical pull lever. It will most likely pull downward.

I have a lexmark x4550. It keeps saying "Cover OPen" and its closed

Error 30 Top Cover Open or Print Cartridge Missing Make sure the spring-mounted pin on the print head shroud is installed properly and that it is detected by the ramp on the print cartridge as the cover closes. The pin should enter the tower on the HVPS and depress the cover switch.

Different printer, similar issue. May help.

MY PRINTER IS NOT WORKING RIGHT

if you have removed and reinserted the printhead alot and this still happens there are 2 possible problems i can think of. 1. your printhead is defective - solution call kodak and see about getting a new one. 2. the contact pins on the actuall printer carriage are bent and the correct contact is not being made. - solution unless you can tell if the pins are bent and straiten them you need a new printer. you have to exchange it for a new one. These kodak AiOs are nice printers, dont let the badluck of getting a defective one turn you against them.
