HI,
If your laptop runs when you plug and does charge your battery, then your battery is not working. If you have your warranty, go for a change in battery.
If it doesnt work even when its plugged, then your motherboard is not recognizing the battery or power card. So call dell for assistance regarding that.

~regards,
Jegan

My Dell CPi D266XT will not power up. The light on the power cord is flashing green. When I push the power button nothing happens. None of the lights flicker like it's even trying to come on.

Hi,

It is possible that the other end of your power adaptor is defective or just loose. Tighten it securely and try to test if it is emitting voltages by using a multi-tester.

It can also be that there is a problem with the connection form your power adaptor going to the main board of your laptop.

This is a very technical problem so I suggest you let a laptop technician look at it.

Hope it helps.

Thanks!

Dell xps m1710 no power, no codes flash.

Hi,
If you were getting the error message that the computer was overheating, you were lucky that it kept on going still . I would suggest to get the chassis fan replaced and then check. Most likely the chassis fan has died leading to the computer not starting .The extended overheating might even have caused a motherboard failure. As the AC adapter and power button light flickers

Thanks for using Fixya

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop computer and I'm experiencing a problem with the orange battery light flickering continuouslyl; though the green battery light is displayed. Thank you

I think you may be referring to the green power light and the orange hard drive activity light.you should have a power icon located on the bottom bar on the desktop near the clock that indicates battery power.

Dell Latitiude 1100 Will not boot has poweron issue

I also have a dell inspiron 1100. It seems that it has overheated, and your motherboard or CPU has fried, or died from the heat. What you say sounds like a motherboard failure

There is currently an ongoing lawsuit. Also, take my advice, and instead of trying to fix it, you're better of getting a new computer, as the dell is getting old anways. I spent some extra cash and got myself a vaio.
