BEKO FRIDGE FREEZER SAFETY RECALL INFORMATION

I'm pasting this response on all queries regarding the recently announced issue with BEKO fridge freezers and the risk of fire from their defrost mechanisms, but I have placed it here in hints and tips too, in the hope it will be of use to any concerned BEKO Fridge owners:

According toseveral sources I have checked, including the London METRO magazine ( http://www.metro.co.uk/news/868330-beko-fridge-freezers-fire-risk-warning-issued-to-homeowners-amid-recall) The MODEL numbers (not serial numbers) affected by the recall are as follows:

CDA752FS
CDA645FW
CA5411FFW
CDA752FW
CDA647FS

From what Ican ascertain, the fridges affected were manufactured between January 2000 andOctober 2006 (So, after shipping and sitting around in shops, you can probablyextend that margin to machines SOLD between 2000 and 2008)

If you go tothe BEKO website, there is a link to check your serial number:

https://refsafety.beko.co.uk/

I have tosay. Regardless of dates and matching serialnumbers, if I had an affected model,I would be checking with BEKO anyway!!

(And by theway I DO have a BEKO fridge freezer and I will be checking it out when I gethome!!)

Recently purchased a Beko fridge/freezer model GNE V220. Is this model problematic re fire hazard with defrost action?

If you just bought the unit, probably not as the fault is associated with units manufactured between 2000 and 2006. However, for the sake of completeness (and I'm posting this response on every BEKO defrost question in full rather than pointing people to my previous responses just in case!)
