Re: time

Most VCRs of the last 10+ years are programmed via the remote box. If you have the matching remote, there should be a button which brings up an on-screen menu where you can select various functions such as setting the time/date, tape speed, channel programming, and the unattended recording you desire. Take a look here for an online manual:

MW-603 does not turn off consistently What could be the problem?

Do you mean at night? Some VCR and TV's are set to download or search for software updates at that time of night. So if it's recording it might be doing that that and not switch off.

I dont have the original remote and i need to record a security camera. none of the channels will record. i have to yellow, white, and red cords hooked up to the vcr in the front ( line in 2)

Generally on VCR the up & down channel selectors will take you to that socket. It will be called "AV" something (perhaps front). It depends on how many aux sockets the vcr has. Once selected you just need to press record.

I need instruction to set recording for sharp h952 vcr

You need remote to get menu to set the clock then go to timed recording setting. Then you load a new tape, then shut down the vcr and wait for the timer to start the vcr and recording for you.

If you need a manual, google for sharp vcr manual download free from sharp website.

How to record on vcr/dvd combo I set the timer program to record on the vcr but nothing happen, I can record by hitting the record button, but unable to get the timer to work. I received the vcr/dvd combo...

First make sure the internal clock is setup correctly observing am/pm. Then try recording something so you can watch the operation to see if it works. Make sure you have a tape you can record on and also make sure the write protect tab has not been removed from the front lower corner of the tape. Good Luck! I hope you now have success!

1. Is the VCR coming on in the timed mode and recording? Make an experiment- set up a timed record for just a few minutes in advance. Have a tape in the machine- then wait a few minutes & see if it indeed comes on and records. This should for sure help you diagnose your problem.

Note: When a timed record is set up, some VCRs must be turned off, or a particular button pushed to activate the timed record mode, where it will wait for the specified time and come on by itself..

2. Video source set correctly? If all you get is a blue screen, or a moment of snow, then the timed recording is happening, but there is no signal present.

No sound Problem - Philips VR550 VHS VCR

If your pre-recorded tapes also play without sound, then check the scart lead is in straight.

If not, then it's more likely to be a dirty audio head.

Try a VHS head cleaner tape.

Vcr timed recordings

I'd be pretty certain that every VCR made these days (and of the last 10-15+ years) can be set to do a timed recording. They can be set for a one time recording, weekly or daily record. Whether used with a cable/satellite box, or outside antenna, you must ensure proper hookup. I'm not real familiar with recent cable/sat receiver boxes, but older ones had to be set to the channel you wanted to record, as the VCR will only see that channel. On older cable (no cable box) & outdoor antenna systems, a VCR could tune in and record any channel, while you watched another one. Anyway, check the capability of the cable/sat box, and follow suggested hookup. You will likely need to set the box to the channel you want to record before you retire for the night.
