SOURCE: I have a Toshiba Satellite

Most commonly, this is related to Computer Security settings which is automatically imposed by Antivirus programs or Firewalls...

First of all, uninstall or disable all the security softwares and try again. If it works, then re-enable them one by one while you keep trying.

Make sure not more than one antivirus program is installed. If there are more than one antivirus or security programs running on your computer, please uninstall one of them, otherwise this might case another problem.

Many similar cases is related to Norton Antivirus when it's mis-configured, so the best is to keep the default settings of Norton if you have installed one.

It could also be related to DNS problem, if your connection is extended from a Server at your home or office, you have to check and make sure the DNS is properly configured. If you don't have idea about your DNS and your connection is directly link to the ISP, then please contact them and let them check your connection settings from their end.

This is sometimes IP related problem, so make sure you use the IP address given by your ISP or it's set correctly. In rare cases, the IP Release should be helpful. From your end, you can try the "ipconfig/release" command. Click "Start" > "Run" or "start search"> type in "cmd", press "Enter" and again type in "ipconfig/release" in the black window and press Enter. If this doesn't help, you'll need to contact your ISP to make sure there's no problem with your IP address.

I would also suggest you to try accessing the internet using another browser, if this happens with Internet Explorer, try Firefox or Google Chrome...

Click here to download Google Chrome.

Good Luck.

You probably have a problem with your router, or cable modem. Try resetting the router and cable modem. To do this unplug the cable modem for ten seconds, then the router for ten seconds. Plug in the router first wait till all the lights except for the ONLINE light are solid flashing then plug in the cable modem and wait for about 30 seconds and try again.

Difference between hub and server

Hub, sometimes referred to as a concentrator or repeater Hub, refers to a networking2_bing.gif component which acts as a convergence point of a Network, allowing the transfer of data packets.

In its simplest form, a hub works by duplicating the data packets received via one Port, and making it available to all ports, therefore allowing data sharing between all devices connected to the hub.

A networknetworknetwork serverserverserver is a computer that provides various shared resources to workstations and other servers on a computer networknetworknetwork. The shared resources can include disk space, hardware access, and email services. Any computer can be a “networknetworknetwork serverserverserver.” What separates a serverserverserver from a workstation is not the hardware, but rather the function performed by the computer. In general, a workstation is any computer used by an individual person to perform his or her job duties, while a networknetworknetwork serverserverserver is any computer that provides users with access to shared software or hardware resources.

I tried to connect Netgear Wireless Router WPN824v3 to my Compac Presario CQ60 Notebook using the installation CD provided with router. After connecting all required cables and reapplying power to modem...

Try connecting a cable directly from your router to your laptop and using the actual IP address of your router instead of routerlogin.com, being a Netgear it should be 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1.
Hope this helps.

Network controller problem

Are you using Norton Internet Security? Perhaps even with ANOTHER anti-virus product installed?

At any rate, turn off / uninstall any firewall product you are using and see if this solves the problem.
