Did you try changing the ink cartridge??? if yes then remove the black ink cartridge and then clean the copper contacts with a lint free cloth and then put it back in. if it helps well and good however if it doesnt follow the steps below.
1. Without turning off the product, disconnect the power cable from the rear of the product.
2. Press and hold down the power button for 30 sec.
3. Release the button.
4. Check if black works or not.
5. do a reset if it does not work:
Unplug the power cord from the product, and wait 20 seconds.
Press and hold # and 3 while plugging in the power cord to the product
Release the buttons after the product starts up. The product will now be reset to factory defaults.

Check if it works or not. If it does not then service the product.

Why doesn't my black ink work in my Epson WorkForce 600 series after replacing the black ink cartridge?

The Epson printer may only use genuine ink cartridges which contain a chip so that you cannot fill the cartridge with ink or use non genuine ink cartridges.

OR

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

HP 5150 Deskjet -- black printing abruptly stopped. Prints appear with color but no black. Switching black cartridges doesn't help. Clean print heads operation doesn't help. Switching computers...

There are very few things you can do, other than what you have aleady done.
I would recommend a decision on how much the unit cost and how long you have used the
printer vrs. what HP or a local authorized service center would charge to repair it.
If you have refilled ink cartridges, this is problem that can arise due to ink drying on the
print head as the black cartridge is use the most.

I have an HP Photosmart 2575 all-in-one printer, and my black is not working I just replaced it with a new cartridge and it still doesn't print the black.

The new ink-cartridge probably is OK.

So, start the HP Printing Assistant Software, and run the "Print-Head-Cleaning" utility, to run a few cycles. Hopefully, it will unclog the ink-jets that _should_ be spraying ink onto the paper.

Black doesnt print all other colors work, ink is full

Try printing a few test pages to get the ink flowing. It's likely clogged/dried out. If it's a new cartridge and doesn't work, you should be able to return it. Alternatively, you could carefully try wiping the nozzle with a lint-free cloth and some rubbing alcohol.

I am trying to scan a document, however the black ink is empty. It only shows the error message that I should refill my ink. Shouldn't I still be able to scan documents?

Must be using PG830 or PG40 50?

For Canon, if either color or black cartridge is empty or out of ink, "Scanner" doesn't work.

That's why your scanner is not properly working.

It's all connected... That's Canon.

Are you refill your cartridge by yourself?
Try "ROADINK" inkjet refill kit. No drill or sharp needles are needed.
It's not only easy to refill, you can have quality printing.

Check out my youtube video, will find how easy refill can be done.

My black ink will not print. Do I have to have

The larger of the two black cartridges is used for text only printing.

The saller cartridge is used for black in graphic images or pictures.

This saves you color ink . It allows you to put the black ink on the image without making the color inks blend the black ink.
