Question about Air Tools & Compressors

1 Answer

Mastercraft 6.5 Gal.3/4 hp does not hold pressure

My pump only comes on as I need water. No reserve? The pump goes on/off/on/off when the toilet is flushed. You run any tap while the toilet is being filled and the pump will continuously run till full and shut off but the pressure drops right back to 20psi? I don't know if this could be the foot valve (the water seems to be at the pump and not flowing back to the well, and it doesn't come on by itself when idle). I have a shallow well and the lift is less than 25', The pump has a built in tank but when I checked the pressure from the air fitting, water comes out? Is this normal?Any suggestions?? Thank you Bill

No it is not normal
if it is like a round tank and you use air pressure to set the operation then to have water there indicates that the diaphragm that separates the water and air has failed
nothing to with the foot valve but a non return valve at that tank or lack or set pressure

SOURCE: Mastercraft 2.0 hp air compressor will not build up over 25 psi

sounds like a bad or broken valves in the head. crankcase needs a vent which is sometimes a small hole drilled into the oil fill plug and will normally blow some air out the vent while it runs

SOURCE: My 5 hp, 25 Gal. Craftsman air compressor is

It sounds like your intake valve is worn or defective. Take the head apart again and look to see if the valve is sealing properly. If you post a comment with your model number I can look up the specific parts at sears parts.

If your compressor is functioning properly, air should not come out of the intake muffler (filter)

Thanks,

Tim

SOURCE: Air pressure does not go over 25 psi I have taken

Does it shut off at 25 psi or just keep running and never build more pressure than that? Also, did this come on gradually or suddenly? Also, was it being used regularly when it happened or had it been sitting for a while?

My 1/2 hp mastercraft pump cycles ever 3 seconds roughly. The pressure switch is set at 40-60psi. Should I replace or upgrade my pressure tank?

You might want to make sure you have proper air volume in pressure tank.

Shut down system. Drain tank. Fill tank with air via Shrader valve on top of tank until it has a few less psi than the low cut off setting. This will ensure that the tank still has water in it with some pressure still pushing it out when the pump kicks back on.

Without that cushion of air, the pump short cycles. ie every 3 seconds.....

6 gal tank puts out only about 2 gal of very hot water. ADoes the same whether on gas or with electric hot rod.

Have you tried it with both (hot rod and Gas ) turned on at same time? Is tank well insulated? (looking from behind tank.)
Does temperature drop off quickly, or gradually? Did it supply hot water better before, or this is first time you really measured it out? Need to keep in mind that as hot goes out the top fitting to hot lines, cold is coming in the bottom fitting and beginning to mix with hot, which obvioulsy will cause hot to gradually become warm as it enters. 2 gallons out hot tap, 2 gals., at bottom of tank, then mixing as it flows in usually equals, about 2 gal or less of warm, then cold again. Get many complaints of only enough for a short shower when they have 6 gal tank. You can try adjusting temperature up a little to see if it helps. Keep an eye on pressure relief valve dripping excessively as well as shut pump off for 20min-30 min, then turn it back on before touching any taps, to see if it cycles at all, indicating a leak in the system. If pump doesn't cycle when turned back on, no leaks.

Ok at the place I am employed they have a 1 Hp submersible pump it pumps about 300 ft into the top of a 120 gal storage tank then the water comes out of the bottom of the tank and goes into our grundfos...

The booster should have been placed after you restrooms with a check valve to prevent back-pressure. then you can adjust both the sub-pump pressure, and the booster pressure accordingly
let me know

Does the tank lid have a seal on it to keep water from coming out?

No water from drilled well, intermittent.

1-If everything has been replaced can you turn water off and check air pressure in the water storage tank. the bladder may be leaking and causing it to work some. A 40 gal tank should have about 28 psi of air in it. Also you can press on valve at top of tank to see if any water comes out will let you know if it's bad. Air should come out at top and no sign of water from valve on tank..

2-When you changed pumps did you replace the check valve in top of pump. Some pumps I have had to pull back up and add a check valve to pump.

Most pumps have a check valve on top with a retaining clip holding it in. And they work sometimes and some have to be removed and add a brass check to pump and connect to water pipe.

My toto toilet has both 1.6 gal and 6 gal flushes. the short flush doesn't go down.

I am not a toto expert but i think i understand the gravity control toilet concept.A gravity flush tank type toilet flushes do to the force of water traveling from the tank to the bowl in a small passageway and forces the water in the bowl towards the integral trap in the toilet. In other words the water isnt dumping quick enough or the passageway is restricted.,My guess is the flush valve isnt dumping all at once.

Pump will not come up to pressure and turn off!

With no leaks in line and assuming the jet is not embedded in debris at bottom of well, try priming the pump again and getting all the air out.
