SOURCE: Oven does not heat but broiler does

The most common cause of this symptom is a defective ignitor. Oven ignitors can glow and allow enough current through to open the oven gas valve but just not produce enough heat to ignite the gas immediately (see the link below).

In that case, replacing the oven ignitor is the usual solution.

SOURCE: OVER WONT HEAT UP

make sure the hose is connected to the propane tank and that the tank valve is opened letting gas into the grill exhausts... and then light the igniter but make sure the release valves on the grill arent on max... start it on low to med.

Gas oven is slow to ignite & preheat

What kind of range? Taking that long to ignite and small flame. Sounds like both weak ignitor and safety valve is not opening.

First thing to suspect would be a weak igniter....see if the amp draw while the igniter is glowing matches the amp rating of the gas valve, the value will be on the side of the valve, if the amp draw of the igniter is lower than the rating of the valve you would need to replace the glow coil/igniter.

My maytag mgr5729adw gas range oven omits a strong gas smell when attempting to preheat. Sometimes it heats sometimes it doesn't but use to get a small boom when igniting. Ignitor still glows oran

see the next steps and proceed with common sense: God bless you
Main Control / Oven Switch
The main control or oven switch may have failed. You will need to identify the wires from the switch/control that lead to the igniter that is clicking. These wires may pass through the spark module and change colors. Refer to the wiring diagram or tech sheet. If you have power leaving the switch/ control when in the off position replace the switch /control. Manual switches can be tested with an ohmeter.

Spark Module / Igniter Module
If your oven igniter keeps clicking the igniter module or spark module is the likely problem. First be sure the igniter is clean and the surrounding contact points are clean. Make sure power is off when cleaning. If the oven keeps clicking after it's cleaned and the oven switch / control checks good replace the spark module.

How Do I manually light my oven.?

most likely you have a bad ignitor, you can't lite it like older ovens it has an electronic ignition.when the ignitor draws a certain amount of amps.the gas is let in and the flame ignites,if it glows it still can be bad, once it glows it should ignite the flame within 40 seconds.part number 492431 and it's around 70 dollars. go here http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Bosch-Parts/Range-Parts/Model-HGS435UC01/1794/0124002?searchedModel=HGS435UC&blt=11 go to oven cabinet parts and look at part 309,this is your ignitor.

I have a hotpoint gas oven the will preheat , but not maintain temperature

Hello,

That pretty much sounds like a weak igniter thats causing your troubles, while the igniter first comes on to preheat the oven its seems to be ok,yet once it has been on for a while the igniter is getting weak and not allowing the gas to flow properly once its hot. By replacing the igniter the oven will maintain tempature.

Bosch HGS442UC Gas Oven won't light

Usually when an oven won't bake, it's because the bake igniter is weak or burned out. The igniter is a small, round or rectangular device, that's about 1 inch by 4 to 8 inches. It's near the burner itself.

The burner is the tube-type device the gas flows through before it's ignited. It has many small holes on the sides to let the gas, when ignited, form a long, low flame. If the igniter is weak, if it glows red but doesn't get hot enough, or if it's burned out, the gas doesn't flow to the burner and the burner won't ignite. If this is the problem, you may need to replace either the igniter or the gas safety valve. Usually the igniter is to blame.

Other causes Other reasons that your oven may not bake are:

  • The clock settings are incorrect (if you have timed baking or a self-cleaning oven).

  • The thermostat is defective.

  • The safety valve that prevents accidental gas flow is defective.

  • The selector switch is defective.
if this helps please vote me a fix ya
