SOURCE: pb1000fuel to oil mix ratio for echo

New Echo manuals say "50:1 for all engines regardless of what is printed in manual."
Fuel/Oil Mixture

  1. Use a quality 2 cycle oil and mix it to the OIL supplier's recommended ratio. Today I use Stihl 2 cycle oil mixed @ 50:1 in a Pioneer that I purchased new in 1980. There are no gouges or scratches on the piston or cylinder and I have no carbon build up on the piston top. The manual (on stone tablets) recommends 24:1. Over the years the mixture has leaned from 24:1 (Saw Recommendation) to 28:1 (Lawn boy mower recommendation) to 32:1 (Oil provider 2gal premium/8oz chainsaw 2-cycle engine oil - used for many years) and finally the last 5 (±) years 50:1 (1gal premium/2.6oz Stihl 2-cycle engine oil)
  2. Any fuel containing ethanol is not good with chainsaws. Mix what you expect to use within a few weeks. Anything over 1.5 months old use up in a 4 cycle engine. HTH

Oil comes out from muffler

I am guessing that this is a 2 stroke. If so, you must make sure you are mixing the oil and gas ratio correctly. Two much oil and it will smoke alot and run out the exhaust in the form of watered down oil. If the mix is correct, you may have a a bad ring.

Pb-413 blower. starts w choke, then stalls when choke is taken off. wont run at full throttle without choke on about 90%

Most likely there's a problem with fuel supply - choking cuts air supply optimizing the air/fuel mix. Most common solution is to check and clean the carburetor.

If there's a tiny fuel filter in the fuel line between tank and carburetor check it on excessive pollution. Replace it when necessary.

When opening the blower for carburetor cleaning - also check the airfilter and replace when dirty.

If never opened the blower - take pictures with a digital camera at each step. The pictures can help with assembly after cleaning.

I have an older echo blower. just had it tuned up and adjusted and still running poorly. just wondering if it is my fuel mixture of 25;1

25:1 may be too rich a mixture. Clean your spark plug well. Then get some good synthetic 2 stroke oil and try a 32:1 mix or a 40:1 mixture. Here is a fuel mix chart for you use.

I have a model PB-250. It will idle (Rough) Start right up, but when I set the choke to run it surges and dies. Emptied fuel mix and put in new 89 octane and new echo mix and still have same ploblem?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

Your parts manual is here:
http://www.echo-usa.com/pdf/documentation/PB251e_P06113_122910.pdf

First off check all the fuel lines:
Items 6 and 7 of the manual on pages 4 and 5. Look for any cracks in the lines.
Also inpsect item 9 (Fuel filter) for clogs inside the gas tank.

Next inspect item 13 (Primer bulb) on page 10 for pin holes. (Highest probable failure)

Lastly the diaphragm Item 34 page 10 for tears or pin holes.
These are the 3 most common reasons that cause the symptom your having.
There is a repair kit (Item 19) to rebuild this carb but does not include item 13
13
12538108660 1 BULB, PURGE Make sure you change the Bulb if you do a rebuild.

With a little investment in time and a good eye you can resolve this.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

Echo pb-413 leaf blower not running properly

It doesn't appear to be getting enough fuel. Unscrew the "L" and"H" screws about an 1/8 to 1/4 turn. Also at the end of the season run it completely out of gas and you shouldn't have anymore carb problems.
