1) Then you need an ESD wrist strap, and the HMM.

Electro Static Discharge wrist strap. Make sure it's alligator clip is attached to a good ground source.

Average cost is around $3 to $6.
Here is but one example,

Don't wear one, and you can Static shock your laptop, and turn it into an expensive doorstop.

I connect to an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of an open, empty computer case. I feel an Anti-Static Mat is unwarranted.
You can connect to a large metal serving tray, (Unpainted, and set it on the table you're working on.
Or perhaps a large metal knickknack. (Unpainted)

Hardware Maintenance Manual,

The Service Manual.

Under the heading - Name, click on the blue ->
Hardware Maintenance Manual
(42x3547_05.pdf and 6.43MB, is underneath it)

In the Bookmarks menu on the left, click on the + sign to the left of -
Removing and replacing a FRU. (Field Replacement Unit)

Scroll the inner blue sidebar way down, then click right on -
1190 System board, PC Card/Express Card slots assembly or PC

Use a multi-compartment container for the various screws you will remove.
Label each compartment for the area the screw/s come out of.
SOME screws look VERY similar to other screws.
Advise DO NOT mix them up.

Pictorial disassembly guide,

Added info,

Now, if I may ask; why do you think the motherboard needs to be replaced?

You will need to take your phone to your carrier so that they can activate it. The motherboards are part of the activation process. When you change motherboards, you need to reactivate the phone again.

G31/33 motherboard not supported by Pro Tools. What is involved in a new motherboard? Will I need to buy another windows program?

When you make major changes to the computer, and a motherboard is a major change, you will need to re activate windows if your windows instalation survives the change.
If its an OEM version of windows thats a no go.

If you want to give it a try, back up whatever you dont want to loose and give it a try.
You may want to go into device manager and uninstall the devices that are included on the motherboard. when you boot up install the new drivers off the motherboard cd and you may just get lucky

Want to change motherboard of f700

If you change the motherboard, you'll need to buy a new copy of Windows XP (or Vista), since the current copy will *ONLY* work on your *CURRENT* motherboard. Expensive!

I need to change the SATA mode to to do that in amibios v3.31a

you can only change the mode on a hard drive. you can not change it on a motherboard itself. You need to get a IDE to SATA adapter or vice versa. Look on google for the adapter and on Youtube for visual instructions.

Change sd ram to ddr ram

Because you didn't indicated the version of you motherboard I need you to go to the ECS website

On your left select product category motherboards, socket 478, model P4VMM2, the right version and download the manual for your motherboard.

If you look the manual there are few jumper that you need to change.

Usually JP1, j2 and J3 like on this picture.

Let me know if you have problem with the manual, you can give me the version type and I'll find it for you.
