1) Then you need an ESD wrist strap, and the HMM.
Electro Static Discharge wrist strap. Make sure it's alligator clip is attached to a good ground source.
Average cost is around $3 to $6.

Don't wear one, and you can Static shock your laptop, and turn it into an expensive doorstop.
I connect to an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of an open, empty computer case. I feel an Anti-Static Mat is unwarranted.
You can connect to a large metal serving tray, (Unpainted, and set it on the table you're working on.
Or perhaps a large metal knickknack. (Unpainted)

Removing and replacing a FRU. (Field Replacement Unit)
Scroll the inner blue sidebar way down, then click right on -
1190 System board, PC Card/Express Card slots assembly or PC
Use a multi-compartment container for the various screws you will remove.
Label each compartment for the area the screw/s come out of.
SOME screws look VERY similar to other screws.
Advise DO NOT mix them up.

Because you didn't indicated the version of you motherboard I need you to go to the ECS website http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Downloads/ProductsDetail_Download.aspx?detailid=190&DetailName=New&DetailDesc=&CategoryID=1&MenuID=6&LanID=0
On your left select product category motherboards, socket 478, model P4VMM2, the right version and download the manual for your motherboard.
If you look the manual there are few jumper that you need to change.
Usually JP1, j2 and J3 like on this picture.
