Re: How to save files on iPhone

Hi, OK, well I you can only view the attachments in the mail app. Too bad you can not save downloads form the mail and in Safari to be dumped on my Mac when Sync. I think the reason your pics on the iPhone are not there after you copy them to iPhoto is because you have your iPhoto set to delete off phone/camera after download. Perhaps they will allow us to do this on an update in the near future. regards sreejith

Re: How to save files on iPhone

Sorry, you just have to wait - probably only a month or two - check this link; "Fall 2007 is when the iPhone's features are set to expand in earnest, he adds. The iPhone will not only gain a disk mode for transferring computer files but should also receive a full-fledged file browser that lets users store and open documents. Its omission from the iPhone software made available in June was supposedly made primarily because the company wants a fully developed browser very similar to that found in Mac OS X Leopard, including the option of Cover Flow browsing." All I discovered sounds like the update will solve pretty much all of the issues with iphone, including your problem. even if not great news, hope this helps, I am sure you will find out when the update is ctually brought out, it will be well announced. :)

Why are jpg attachments showing up as winmail.dat files on my iPhone?

I haven't seen much directly relating to jpg formats becoming winmail.dat files, but it seems with the new iphone ios7 operating system, many other types of RTF and PDF sorts are coming in as winmail.dat files and who's to blame at the moment might be unknown. Some blame Microsoft while others are isolating it down to the new ios7.

I'll keep looking but this is what i found so far...

Winmail dat attachments

I can't save ringtones via email attachment to my i425

Boost Mobile does not accept ringtones from 3rd parties, whether its sent via email or mp3 attachment. U might want to try sending it through the SMS. Maybe u can save it that way. Only way I've been able to get ringtones is thru the Boost site only. No "free ringtone" websites are able to send ringtones thru a message, cuz Boost blocks this. And Ive tried them all. Until they provide us with phones with SD cards, were outta luck, sorry.

I receive an email from a friend in a jpg file but i can not open it,can yu help me please?

Presumably you mean the e-mail has a jpg attachment. What e-mail client do you use? If you can see a link towards the top of the e-mail for a file ending in .jpg right click and select save as or save file and then choose the preferred save destination. Some more information would be helpful though if this doesn't solve your problem. Do you get an error message? What can you see? Screen shots?

Palm to iPhone

Assuming you are using Palm desktop, have an email account, and can receive emails on your iPhone:
1) Open Palm Desktop on your computer and click on Contacts.
2) Click on Categories and select "ALL".
3) Go to Edit and click "Select All" (all contacts should be highlighted)
4) Go to File and click "Export Vcard"
5) A dialog box will prompt you for a file name. Use what every name you prefer, but remember the file name and location. Your contacts will all be saved as a vCard file (vcf)
6) Now go to your email account and send yourself an email and "attach" the file you created from step 5.
7) On your iphone, receive the email from step 6 above. Scroll down to the bottom of the email and you will see the attached file from step 6 above.
8) Click on the attachment and you will be prompted by iPhone to add the contacts to your contact list. Follow the intructions.

Should work like a charm! [There are other ways of exporting from Palm to the iphone by exporting from Palm to a CSV file and then importing, after mapping fields, to either a Windows Address Book file or an Outlook (not Outlook Express) file. The advantage is the ability to sync on a batch basis with your iphone.. helpful to quickly add changes/new records to your iphone. But the vCard method outlined above is easiest]
