Question about Whirlpool 24 in. DU1100XTPS Built-in Dishwasher

Open Question

Why is my dishwasher running continuously without shutting off.

It continuously runs without stopping or draining unless the cancel button is pushed. It drains fine at this time, so I know the pump and drain line are working. We have replaced the control panel and the sensor on the bottom of the unit. Checked thermo sensors and they check ok on the ohm meter. We also run the water in the sink until it is hot before starting the dishwasher, so it is filling with hot water. What are we missing, why is it staying in the wash cycle and not shutting off in a timely manner?

SOURCE: whirlpool dishwasher stopped working...

It sounds like the thermal fuse in the control console has blown.
Turn power off to unit.
Remove the outer door panel and then the console.
Remove the black plastic cover from over the circuit board if it has one.
You should see the thermal fuse clipped to the circuit board housing.
If you have an ohm meter, check for continuity across it, it should read closed.
If you don't have a meter, unplug the wires from it and and hook them together.
Turn power back on to unit, hold door switches down and cancel cycle. The washer should drain the water.
If this doesn't work, check your door switches to make sure they are closing properly.

SOURCE: Dishwasher not draining

The problem is a clog in the hose or the check valve from the drain pump. I will post back shortly with directions to unclog it.
Thanks/Mike

SOURCE: Whirlpool GU980SCGQO not draining and I'm expecting 27 dinner guests Sunday

Ok, there are a couple of things it could be. The pump motor could be stuck, which is the most likely. Remove the bottom panel and look underneath. Spin the impeller until it spins freely, then try to start the dishwasher. Make sure the door is open before you do this, so that the impeller doesn't run while your hand is in it =)

Also, check the drain hose for a check valve. Sometimes these get stuck in the wrong position and it won't drain well. If none of these work, let me know and I'll help you further.

Did you have a power outage recently? They are notorious for damaging circuit boards--usually about 3-4 weeks after the power interruption strange things will either start happening or *not* happening with appliances due to damaged computer chips on the boards starting to fail. Your symptoms indicate either a blown user interface(push button panel) or a defective main control board(board with the brains on it) or both!

Frigidaire FFB240 dishwasher won't stop

Good Morning AA1970,

I see that you are having trouble with your Frigidaire dishwasher, model# FFB240, continuing to run unless you shut it off. While I'm not familiar with this particular model number, I suggest that you give the appliance a hard reset. You will do this by shutting the power off at the circuit breaker for at least 20-30 minutes. After restoring power, run the cycle. If it is still continuing to run unless you shut it off, I suggest contacting a local authorized technician for further assistance.

-Best Regards-

My Bosch dishwasher is driving me crazy! When it finishes a wash cycle it beeps twice every 10 minutes until the door is opened. We can't run the dishwasher at night after dinner unless we're SURE we...

Hello there,

It would help to know the model number of the dishwasher, but on many Bosch dishwashers, you can switch the cycle cycle completion signal off as follows:

1. While holding the right-hand CANCEL/DRAIN button, also press and hold the ON/OFF button
2. When the LED above the CANCEL/DRAIN button illuminates and the beeping starts, release both buttons
3. Press the right CANCEL/DRAIN button repeatedly until the beeping tone is at the desired volume, i.e. silent!
4. Press the "ON/OFF" button again to set the volume.

On models with the wash cycle buttons on the top edge of the door, the CANCEL/DRAIN buttons aren't always explicitly labelled CANCEL/DRAIN. These buttons are also labelled RESET on some models.

On models with 3 and 4 wash cycle buttons, the right CANCEL/DRAIN button is the third button when reading from left to right. On models with 5 wash cycle buttons, the right CANCEL/DRAIN button is the fourth button when reading from left to right.

Please try the above then let me know if you need further assistance. Please state the model number or series (i.e. Integra) of your washer if/when replying.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
BElectric

My dishwasher is not draining unless I hit the cancel drain buttons. I also noticed that when time gets down to 1 minute it stays there and keeps running

Most likely it is not completely level. This will stop the cycle every time. The drain/cancel just overrides the sensor, but you need to level it up completely, this should solve the problem

Whirlpool Dishwasher won't drain during normal cycle

As you say a clogged line or valve does not make sense.

Try running it without the heated drying and see if it empties or if the cancel button will work then.

The dishes should air dry quickly if you empty it and open the door.

It could be a defective thermostat allowing it to get too hot during the heat cycle
