Question about Whirlpool 24 in. DU1100XTPS Built-in Dishwasher
It continuously runs without stopping or draining unless the cancel button is pushed. It drains fine at this time, so I know the pump and drain line are working. We have replaced the control panel and the sensor on the bottom of the unit. Checked thermo sensors and they check ok on the ohm meter. We also run the water in the sink until it is hot before starting the dishwasher, so it is filling with hot water. What are we missing, why is it staying in the wash cycle and not shutting off in a timely manner?

It sounds like the thermal fuse in the control console has blown.
Turn power off to unit.
Remove the outer door panel and then the console.
Remove the black plastic cover from over the circuit board if it has one.
You should see the thermal fuse clipped to the circuit board housing.
If you have an ohm meter, check for continuity across it, it should read closed.
If you don't have a meter, unplug the wires from it and and hook them together.
Turn power back on to unit, hold door switches down and cancel cycle. The washer should drain the water.
If this doesn't work, check your door switches to make sure they are closing properly.

Ok, there are a couple of things it could be. The pump motor could be stuck, which is the most likely. Remove the bottom panel and look underneath. Spin the impeller until it spins freely, then try to start the dishwasher. Make sure the door is open before you do this, so that the impeller doesn't run while your hand is in it =)
Also, check the drain hose for a check valve. Sometimes these get stuck in the wrong position and it won't drain well. If none of these work, let me know and I'll help you further.

Hi, this is an indication that the water did not heat properly. Follow this link to some instructions I put together to help solve this and reset the control so you can use the machine again.
