SOURCE: Packard Bell Imedia 1402 wont boot up

you did not install the new Hdd properly, the part of the ribbon cable with colour should be by the side of the power connector and the power connector should be connected with the red cble by the side of the colour on the ribbon cable.

This error message may occur if the primary disk group identity of the hard disk does not match the primary disk group identity that is stored in the registry. There wasn't anything wrong with your memory or PSU. (not the cause for blue screen).
If there is data on the primary drive than slave it into another system & copy the data to another drive or CD. The most common data to copy. My Documents, Favorits, Desktop. Users name(jeff), open Application Data, copy Identities. open Mocrosoft, copy Address Book.
What is needed is a fresh install of windows. You can either boot to windows through the cdrom & quick format before install or use the hard drive's utility disk software or CD/iso bootable's to redo the drive. I understand this is a replacement board & one would think that re-connecting everything the system should just boot but from time to time widows gets trashed in the prosses. Though the quick formatt is faster I prefer to use the Mfg's bootable ISO to make a bootable CD. Here you can also check the drive & MBR & pick size & even FAT type.
The choice's are up to you. Just make sure the bios is seeing the drive correctly.

Toshiba c655 wont charge or power on!

Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it could be faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

How to troublehoot a Portable compouter that will not POST (Power on Self-Test)

Basic troubleshooting for a portable no post is a fairly straight forward process.
  1. Disconnect any external devices and power the system on, see what symptoms occur. Does the system have power? Does it have any Video? Does the system flash LED lights or beep?
  2. If the system is getting power but not starting, and not indicators give any troubleshooting hints, then we simplify the system by removing all items we can and see if we get basic function. Items to remove are Battery, RAM modules, Wireless Cards and the drives. Depending on the design, some of these can't be removed by the user but most can be removed.
  3. If the system will now power on and give some sort of error (LED FLASH, BEEP etc) then Add 1 RAM module back to the system and see if you get video and errors about not being able to boot. If you do, start adding items back to the system one at a time and identify the failing component.
  4. If nothing makes any successful boot, then most likely failure is the mainboard (Motherboard) of the system.

Screen will not come on hard drive light no light checked power supply is ok

Things to check:
  1. Power led on the front of the tower, it should be solid green when on. Flashing Amber is generally an indication of a bad power supply inside the tower
  2. Power LED Solid AMBER indicates system is not finishing the power on self test (POST) and you remove all connections from the tower except power and try turning on again. If no change, remove all PCI and PCI-E cards from system, try again, no change replace motherboard.
  3. On the back of the tower are 4 diagnostic LEDs near the ps2 ports marked ABCD, after the POST, during a normal boot the will flash in several sequences and with boot is finished all 4 should be green. If they stop an a different pattern, then that indicates a failure Yellow Yellow Green Green indicate bad RAM for example
  4. If the LEDs on front and back are Green then the system appears to be booting but the monitor display is not functional

Led with number 9 displayed is flashing

LED 9 flashing can mean many things. Here is the list of "flashing codes" for the vostro 1510.

Keep in mind a flashing led is going to blink 3 times. for example,

number one would look like this:

On (solid lit). Blink, blink, blink (paused off) blink, blink, blink... (paused off), (then repeat)

1. ON-FLASH-FLASH = No Ram or ram not seen
2. ON-FLASH-ON = Ram has a problem
3. FLASH-FLASH-FLASH = Motherboard failure (replace board)
4. FLASH-ON-ON = CPU Fault/failure
5. FLASH-ON-FLASH = LCD detect failure/fault
6. ON-ON-FLASH = MINI pci card (controller) failure/fault
7. FLASH-FLASH-OFF = Keyboard fault/failure
8. FLASH-OFF-FLASH = USB FAILURE
9. FLASH-FLASH-ON = Video BIOS or BIOS issue
10. ON-FLASH-FLASH = Modem issue

Depending on the blinking code, you might just need to re-seat or replace your RAM or your CPU. But then again, you could have a more severe motherboard issue.

Tecra M2 doesn't boot is it a processor problem?

given the symptoms, it points to motherboard.. if it was processor, video or ram. it wouldnt boot at all and you'd just get error beeps from your laptop. i'd first try resetting the bios, by removing the bios battery for 30 min, then putting it back in. if that doesnt work try changing it out, usually costs under 8 bucks. if that doesnt work then I would change out the motherboard, if its cost effective.

2350 added ram now computor will not boot

a couple things.

#1 Before you started inserting and removing RAM, did you have the power disconnected? Did you blead the stored power in the motherboard by holding the power button after unplugging? Not having power removed from the system can damage the RAM and possibly the slot.

#2 When inserting RAM, it is important to have the locking levers spread, align the keyways in the Memory slots, then when inserting the module, press down FIRMLY with both thumbs till the locking levers snap up and in to locked position without touching the levers. (If you pull the levers up, the RAM doesn't seat in the slot)

#3 when you power on, on the back of the tower are 4 LEDs marked ABCD they should flash on then off in difference sequences during post, then end with all for solid green. If some are amber then there is a HW problem ans you need to post the LED pattern (AAGG for example is a memory problem)

Most likely seating the RAM properly will solve the issue.

Wont boot up (Latitude D600)

Remove all drives, battery, PC Card, Mini-PCI cards and RAM, see if you get a different indication.

If the LED lights change, power off, install RAM, reboot, If the system posts from that point, then add components back one at a time and see if any one stops the system from posting. If you isolate one item, then replace that item.

If the system will not post after removing all the items, tehn the motherboard is likely the point of failure.
