SOURCE: embroidery stick

You need the USB Manager software to view the files. Have a look at all the software that were supplied with the machine. Load the embroidery software on your laptop and then open the USB manager.

When it opens it will show a light blue screen and grey icons to the left. Click in "disk", then click on "read disk" and you should be able to see your designs. The grey icons will turn orange were designs are stored, and the grey ones indicate empty space for more designs.

Enjoy your fantastic machine

SOURCE: can't update my new husqvarna diamond embroidery machine

Thanks for the response. The problem turned out to be my fault. I had my Diamond connected to my computer when I tried to install the drivers. As soon as I disconnected it, the drivers all installed and everything is fine.

SOURCE: My sister owns a Husqvarna Viking Iris Embroidery

The Iris Tension unit is controlled by the computer. You can't turn the dial with your fingers. There are 2 buttons on the panel that control the tensioin knob. The graphic looks like rope (sort of) and there is a + and a - on each side of the graphic which increases or decreases the tension.

SOURCE: Reader/Writer for Viking Rose-Do I have to replace?

I would reccomend that you go to the dealer and think about upgrading your machine, I used to have a Rose. I upgraded and am happy I did, I think you can get the 4D with some of the new machines...if not deal for it with your new machine.

SOURCE: I have a Do All Quilter's Hoop which I can't use

I'm a bit amazed that a Husqvarna technician was unable to do the minor adjustment to the embroidery arm - he needs to contact Husqvarna headquarters and ask for instructions. Meantime, you can still use your hoop (which by the way is my favourite hoop - it's a little beauty!). Tell your machine you are going to use the Large Hoop (6" x 9.5" or 150mm x 240mm) even though you are really using the 6" x 6" or 150mm x 150mm Do It All Hoop. Provided you have centred your design before loading it on your USb stick or floppy drive, it should work. However, just to reassure yourself, use the Check Size button on your touch screen to test the outside size of the embroidery and be sure it is not going to foul on the hoop borders. (It is the one on the second screen (press More to access this) once your have loaded your design - looks like little double arrows pointing to the corners of a square. Each time you press this button, the needle will zoom to each outer corner of your design in turn.

Testimonial: "Thanks so much for your feedback on the Quilter's Hoop problem. I did as you suggested putting the Large Hoop 240x150 in the preferences and darn if it didn't work. I have since learned that my technician wants $50.00 for a part he says Husqvarna says my machine needs because it was built before the Quilter's Hoop came on the market. What do you think of that? Thanks again for the solution."

My machine does not recognize that the embroidery unit is attached. It keeps saying attach embroidery unit. Has anyone had this problem

What make and model of sewing machine do you have? I have seen this problem with a Husqvarna Viking Designer I (or similar older Viking machine). In that case, the problem was corrosion on the contacts between the embroidery unit and the sewing machine. The solution was to use an electronic contact cleaner to clean the contacts; this is one product: http://www.amazon.com/CRC-05101-QD-Electronic-Cleaner/dp/B000CCMLD0 . Make sure that the machine is unplugged. Spray the contact cleaner on the contacts. (In some cases, you should then connect the embroidery unit to the machine and remove it a few times.) Allow the product to dry before you plug in the sewing machine again.

In another case, the solution was actually easier. The owner had two similar embroidery machines. She managed to mix up which embroidery unit went with which sewing machine. Neither embroidery unit could be properly seated on the machine that she attempting to use it with. Once the embroidery unit was paired with the correct machine, both pairs worked.

I hope this helps.

On 955E embroidery unit, the large black gear snapped

Welcome to FixYa. Hi - Viking has online tutorials for several of the 955E features, including embroidery.
Here is a link to the 955E tutorials. If the link isn't active, paste it into your brower window.

As mentioned in the next paragraph, you can order a manual from your Viking dealer if you don't have yours. The Viking manuals aren't very expensive, and it is well worth having. You'll find detailed instructions for inserting and calibrating the embroidery arm, which happens everytime you insert the emb arm. See the Hints and Tips paragraph below.
If your machine is broken, the 955E Parts manual lists each part number in the machine, and the 955E Service Manual should provide instructions for repair. But because the 955E is not discontinued (as far as I know), the dealer might not be willing to sell you those manuals or order the parts you need. eBay often has Parts and Service manuals for sale for current model Viking machines, or you might be able to find them for sale on other web sites. Keep in mind that if your machine is still under warrantly, you risk voiding the warranty if you attempt to remove the covers and perform a "non-consumer" repair.
Some general hints and tips for inserting and removeing your embroiodery arm and navigating the Viking web site:
  • Always turn your machine off when you attach or remove your embroidery arm or when you insert or remove an embroidery design card.
  • When you insert your embroidery arm, insert an embroidery design card. When you turn your machine back on, you should see a message on the info screen that says something like "embroidery arm will move". Press OK, and the embroidery arm will calibrate.
  • After the embroidery arm has calibrated, place your hoop on the embroidery arm.
  • Look at each end of your embroidery arm - you will find a connector that must slip into a corresponding connector on the embroidery machine. This connector slides into a corresponding connector on the machine. The connector on the machine has a cover that slides open and closed. If it is closed, it you might not spot it right away. You must open this slot when you attach the embroidery arm - slide the embroidery arm straight back (not at an angle), so the embroidery arm connects to the machine securely. Although you might need to nudge the embroidery arm in place, do not force it!

Trouble with Viking 955E Embroidery Unit and Control Panel

Welcome to FixYa. Hi - Viking has online tutorials for several of the 955E features, including embroidery.
Here is a link to the 955E tutorials:
http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us/6616_393.htm

Some general hints and tips:
  • Always turn your machine off when you attach or remove your embroidery arm or when you  insert or remove an embroidery design card.
  • When you insert your embroidery arm, insert an embroidery design card. When you turn your machine back on, you should see a message on the info screen that says something like "embroidery arm will move". Press OK, and the embroidery arm will calibrate.

The Viking site also has projects for the 955E that will help you learn to use some of the features - you can probably sew most or all of the free projects on the site, but projects for the 955E incorporate features on your machine that might be available on others. And look for the free designs!
Hope this helps get you started.  If you and other readers have a minute to rate this information (good or bad, or indifferent), your rating will help me determine if I understood your question and if my answer is helpful.
A few more recommendations...You can order a manual for your machine from any Viking dealer and probably online, and I recommend that you do. Your machine has some very cool sewing and embroidery features. I sold Vikings, so I can answer specific questions about many individual features, but Viking manuals are not expensive and can help you save time and avoid irritating problems.

If you have more questions, please comment and I will do my best to help you further. I am pleased to answer general questions about embroidery, if you want hints and tips or run into problems.

Cheers, Ginny

Husqvarna Rose embroidery unit stopping mid picture.

Could be the design you're trying to stitch out is eroded. Try rewriting the design to the card and see if that helps. If not, take your machine along with the embroidery unit, peddle, hoops, etc. to your tech for a once over. It may just need an adjustment.

Finding affordable Box and Card that will work with Viking 1+

You will need a keypad card that goes along with one of the original Husqvarna embroidery cards. This keypad gives you the controls for using the embroidery unit and selecting your designs.
